Does anyone know if there are anyone in the SW films who wears glasses or contact lenses (not the actors- the characters themselves). I've always wondered what people in the SW universe do if they have bad vision.

They probably wear lenses or have their eyes improved.

(Of course it's all fantasy, but that's the most logical answer I could come up with as no character in the movie have glasses)

Lasik surgery is very cheap in the GFFA. Even Outer Rim slaves can afford it.

Much like their counterparts in the [face_sick]
Star Trek universe, they can cure blindness but
as yet have no cure for baldness. ;)

Christopher Lambert of Highlander and Mortal Kombat fame is legally blind. He rehearses his blocking between takes with his powerful glasses on and then takes them off when the cameras roll, doing the scene blind!

And all this time I thought he was being contemplative... ;)

One of the slave kids on Tatooine has braces.

LOL! Actually, I think they do have a cure for baldness, but people in the Star Trek universe are supposed to be so "evolved" that they don't mind being bald.

Anyway, I think people in the SW universe can just have surgury to fix bad vision. I guess the slaves just have to squint. I always wondered why Captian Typho didn't have a fake eye.

    Bacta eye drops? it's possible!

It's one of those things fantasy movies figure fans will not think about...that'll show them :D

There was that old guy from the second Ewok TV movie, He wore glasses...so maybe they expect us to accept old people with glasses?

I've wondered about this myself before. And the answers are all EU I'm afraid ;)

Noa from Ewoks: The Battle for Endor wore them:

Saundan from The Holiday Special wore them:

and Admiral Screed from The Great Heep had a kind of digital/mechanical eye-thing going on:

But I think that's about it. Generally speaking there's no need for Dolland and Aitchison in the GFFA ;)

A Bith female member of Rogue Squadron (from the X-Wing comics) wore spectacles, I believe.

    Really? Cool!
Here, do Bith pilots still have to wear helmets? Off topic I know, but I've got a bizarre image in my head now... [face_laugh]

EDIT: Actually, does this constitute glasses?

I know it's a full breath-mask, but it has got two lenses for the eyes, as opposed to a single visor. Maybe Nabrun's a little short sighted too ;)

And yet, bizarrely enough, when you wear two, you don't look twice as cool!

    How does that work?

Actually, I think Captain Typho's patch IS a fake eye-it's an optical prothetic eye, like Anakin's and Luke's hands.

Sure, but does it have the digital night-vision with x-ray vision and the ability to see through walls and clothing?

    I just got contacts.

Now I won't look as weird dressed up as a Jedi.

People with glasses dressed up like Jedi look stupid, IMO.

I was going to say something then. Then I remembered that I actually had Jedi-hair when I had my hair cut from long to short for two years.

    So I won't say a thing [face_laugh]
