Ok, so it wasn't that good, but it needs to return on TV, VHS, or even DVD.

Please sign and post here if you feel it should return.

If George Lucas wants to find the remaining copies, grind them into tiny pieces and blast them into oblivion, then I don't think anyones opinion will change his.

Wasn't there a second Star Wars Holiday special that came out in 1980? I think I have seen screenshots and heard info from it.

I'm the biggest fan on the planet, and I'd rather watch the gut sucking french movie, The Piano Teacher, 1 billion times in a row then see the holiday special edition ever..EVER see the light of day.

Actually, no I wouldn't. The Piano Teacher was violently suck @$$. I'll take Bea Arthur and a Tammy Faye Mark Hamill any day over that crap!

I've got a tape of it, and I'd sign a petition to prevent anyone from EVER seeing it again. ;)

I would sooner sign a petition endorsing Carrot Top as Secretary-General of the UN than I would this.

    Rick McCallum loves you!

Actually, the Holiday Special REALLY is bad enough to never get released. If you have never seen it, then you can count your blessings. It will forever scarr your brain. You cannot get rid of the memory once it is there. You cannot get rid of the memories of Chewbacca's annoying son Lumpy, Bea Arthur singing it up in the cantina with the other aliens, Harvey Korman in multiple roles trying to be funny, The Wookie holiday LIFE DAY in which all the wookies wear red robes and literally walk across the galaxy enshrouded in mist and stars, or the final horror of Carrie Fisher singing a Life Day song set to the main theme of Star Wars! You DO NOT want this released! I will say, however, that it would be nice if the cool 10 minute Boba Fett cartoon would show up on video or DVD some day, minus the rest of the Holiday Special of course!

Lumpy isn't annoying. Lumpy is cute and adorable! [face_love]

Lumpy gives me nightmares! If I could cut away the portion of my own brain that contains the memories of him I would do so! Sigh, oh well..........

I heartily want an official remastered DVD of the Holiday Special. If you don't like it, or don't want to give it a shot, don't buy it. Is it all about the kitsch? Absolutely. And would I buy anything official that includes nearly all of the original cast. You bet.

Not releasing it is just another way for Lucas to re-write history. He's like a pharoah erasing the recorded past that falls out of his favor.

No offense, but who are you expecting to read this petition? Surely not George Lucas.

[edited] My only question is why would any one want to buy a copy of it on HVS or DVD?

Besides I thought Lucas took one look at it and had the producers shot and the film destroyed along with all the copies. :)

YJ edit: Don't mention illegal ways to obtain copies.

Lucas is embarassed by it and that's saying something considering some of the EU out there. I can't see him ever letting it out.

Why do we never want to see this released to the public? Two words: wookie porn.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, consider youself lucky.

I think every SW fan should have the chance to see this at least ONCE just out of historical curiosity. But other than that, this thing should NEVER be rereleased in ANY format!

NONONONONONONONONONONO!!!! I got a copy for the same reason, it took all the strength and force ability I had to not start hating Star Wars...

Only a man powerful in the force could withstand that show!

    Drag Queens
    Wookie Porn
    Druggie Princesses
Half the script reading "Growl incoherently"
    Bea Arthur singing
    Harvey Korman
WOOKIE PORN! AAAAHHH THE PAIN!!!!!!!! IT HURTS AGAIN!!! *Runs off to see his shrink*

I don't think it would be such a good idea since George Lucas said that he HATED this thing. Plus, I've seen it...er...I've said to much...

But, hey, If it does come out on DVD I'll buy it... what can I say?

    I keep my tape rewound to the beginning of the Boba Fett cartoon! I watch the cartoon occasionally, then rewind back to the start of the toon. Unfortunately, there is a short intermission with Lumpy that I have to fast forward. It even hurts to watch the live footage in fast forward mode, sheesh! If they released a DVD, I would probably never bother to watch any of it other than the Boba Fett cartoon. If parts of the DVD were defective, yet the screw ups did not affect the animated sequence, I would never know about it! 8-}
