Eh, I'm of the mind she's been an irredeemable scumbag for a very long time but I haven't kept up with the latest expansion.

"But Her presence at SW is probably a PR stunt for having a female author to replace Karen Traviss."

I cannot possibly explain how wrong and frankly offensive this sentence is.

Golden's FOTJ: Omen was released before Traviss even left. And I guess we're ignoring Claudia Gray, E.K. Johnston, and Beth Revis.

Also I don't see why anyone's surprised by what Marty/MU (who for some reason uses two accounts) says. Nearly all of his views are problematic.

Listen, Karen Traviss is the only woman who can write for Star Wars except for Kathy Tyers, Barbara Hambly, Karen Miller, Vonda N Mcintyre, Martha Wells, Ann Crispin, Claudia Gray, and Katie Lucas. Not counting artists like Jan Duursema and Adriana Melo.

Darth Mu is my main account. I lost my passwords so I registered Marty.
    Marty is my sock.

I use Marty for fanfic. You can look for fanfics under the Darth Mu name too. Most of which is written in 2005-2007 period. But now I just use Darth Mu for lit or competition fanfic.

I remember in the same issue I got published in SF Signal (before it ended), one of the essays was by an Australian fantasy writer who pointed out it was annoying the complaints about the lack of female fantasy authors. The issue wasn't they didn't exist but they seemed to be invisible like Sue Storm when people thought of the genre despite being a backbone of it with thousands of dedicated authors.

The Star Wars EU was built by its women every bit as much as the men if not more and, while Disney owns it, Katie Lucas and Steve Job's heir are as close to the people who own Disney as exist.

He was being snarky and sarcastic. There's no restriction on how many female writers can write in Star Wars, dude. [face_plain]

    I loved those books.

Rebecca Moesta co-wrote Young Jedi Knights.

There was a time I could have rattled all of their names off by memory.

There is no need to attach any additional agenda to hiring Christie Golden. The problem is the two main things she has been involved in, the post-NJO and TCW, have just been terrible.

Karen Traviss is a solid author, she just didn't play well in other people's universe, due to her bias against the morally questionable, i.e. Jedi's use of the clone army and Halsey's creation of the SPARTAN-II program in Halo.

I'll never understand why she tried to pin all of the SPARTAN-II program on Halsey while whitewashing Parangosky of all people. Especially since some of the worst stuff Parangosky does is in Traviss' own books!

She wanted a moral but ruthless military vs. those EVIL scientists.

Speaking of Legends authors who've returned to canon, where's Troy Denning at?

We've gotten Luceno back, Golden's written two novels now. Even Zahn's come back for an encore. But the man who created the best Jedi Master in the NJO has been completely absent.

It gets weird as she makes weapons manufacturers the villains of the Gears of War universe when it's about a ruthless military vs. a race created by evil scientists.

Troy Denning has apparently moved on to Halo alongside Karen Traviss, having already wrote one book, Last Light, with another on the way, Retribution. Between Traviss and Denning, my interest in Halo novels has become rather limited, besides Eric Nylund and to a lesser extent Greg Bear. The best Jedi Master in the NJO does not make up for the disaster that was the post-NJO.

I really liked Last Light and it's probably the best "New" Halo.

Mind you, Halo 5 has effectively killed my interest in the franchise save prequels.
