If JJM mysteriously stops writing for SW after this, I will hate you all forever. With a hate that would fuel a thousand binary star systems.

I don't know another term for what forty pages of that could possibly be.

In more on-topicness, I can't wait for this to be released. When I saw the cover and the author, I just knew I had to read it. The artwork is actually my cover photo on Facebook.

The man's one of the best in the business for using continuity to enhance his stories while adding to it. Others ought to follow his example in my view.

guess your right. i just thought this was a pretty covered period in the timeline. I was thinking this would be later when Kenobi was a little older.

Per our earlier discussion on the excerpt--there's still every chance that it will be. All we've seen is those few pages.

I thought I was coming early to the party to post a link to the excerpt. Clearly not!

Actually, I think you're the first -- for this excerpt. I believe they've been referring to some pages of the prologue, which appear in Crucible (and which were made visible in Amazon's listing for that book). The first chapter was excerpted today, here.

If Lost Tribe of the Sith: The Collected Stories is any indication, especially Pandemonium, I highly anticipate this book.

I am reading Lost Tribe of the Sith now. So far, it's excellent. Not that I wouldn't be getting a book called Kenobi anyway....

Thanks for the link, JJM! I suspected Kenobi was a definite 'to-buy'; now I know it is!

Well, at least I was right! I was indeed talking about the 'excerpt' tab on the Random House page for the book. Sweet.

And just announced in this month's Jedi Journals podcast: I have a short story -- a prequel to Kenobi -- appearing in Star Wars Insider #143, shipping July 24. The story is illustrated by Chris Scalf, who drew the promo piece we had at New York Comicon (which is currently my avatar at left). It's a cool interview, give it a listen.

I read the Chapter One/Two excerpt. I think I'm now keen on this book, where I was ambivalent before.

I just finished an ARC for Kenobi. I can say I loved it. It's very much a Western set in Star Wars.

I'm about halfway done and wow. I love this book. If this is how JJM writes all the time, I need to pick up Knight Errant and Lost Tribe.

Definitely Agree. Posted my review. Lost Tribe is on my list, after Crucible and Razor.

Those looking only for a Kenobi novel set late in the timeline are going to be disappointed. I understand the concerns--we've already got Dark Lord, Last One Standing, Last of the Jedi, and Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi all covering his early days on Tatooine.

However, anyone looking for a great Star Wars novel that captures nearly perfectly the spirit of both Ewan McGregor and Alec Guinness's performances will not be disappointed.
