For those who thought the Dark Horse material would disappear under Marvel's watch, think again.

The real question is, do I want this when I've got nearly every Omnibus and TPB from DH?

The only one I don't have is Darth Vader and the Lost Command. How much I wonder?
Get a New Republic one out!

I like how they're not focusing on the fact that all this is supposedly "non-canon". o_O

I wish them the worst. [:D]

    These oversized, self-contained color collections
Did Marvel get any money for the DHC reprints? Not that we know, right? Lucasfilm is the owner of the material, and they decide who can reprint it, I guess. Do we even know if the authors get any royalties from reprints? I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't.

They wanted money for that? :p The stuff was 20+ years old at the time.

    Very Random selection o_O

More or less a chronological order of DHC's post-ROTS material, I think, save for the last Purge issues.

And the Rest of Dark Times, as well as various of the Darth Vader comics.

Unless things changed, and they could have, in order to do this Marvel had to have purchased these issues from Dark Horse's back catalog. That's what was discussed quite a bit when Marvel was announced as the publisher in January.

So now the question becomes what else did they buy?

There is two threads of this. I need one that covers the Rebellion years and the New Republic years.

Really? Because when DHC published their Unknown Regions omnibuses, Randy was asking for scans of any kind of weird comic anyone could have. No "help me contact the legal owners of this material": the assumption was DHC could reprint it because they had the license to do so. And the Spanish Ewoks comics were reprinted in the website because they assumed they had to be licensed back in the day: no word of paying the original creators.

Do we have any source on that being the legal standing of Star Wars licensed material beyond "it was discussed a lot"?

    Price! Give me price!

Republic 78 and the Lost Command are only ones I don't have of those, but if they'll collect stuff that Dark Horse didn't get to in their Omnibus line this would be something.
...if it didn't cost a lot as I expect it does.
...if I hadn't already bought most the DH TPB:s I want, and likely less-priced than these will be

They are oversized, and the announced oversized Marvel SW one costs over twice as much as the same material in DH Omnibuses.

    Edit:
Well that's actually more reasonable, I thought this would be like the Marvel book. I think I'll buy ones which have currently out-of-print-material.

As a collector this sounds pretty (even if I'm sure it'll be overpriced) and as a DH fan I'm glad their comics aren't being forgotten--but this still feels shady as hell.
