Star Wars Miniatures: Official Discussion (Wish lists, team builds, general discussion)

Ender promised me treasures and fortunes beyond my wildest imagination if I posted here.

Been playing since Rebel Storm, about a week or two after E_S I think it was. Looking forward to some new force-users and the "unique clones" (Cody, Gree, Bly) in the upcoming COTF. The Darktrooper phases 1 and 2 were originally supposed to be in the next set, although they may have been delayed til Bounty Hunters.

 

I got a booster the other day with the Rancor in it (UH). Man this thing is awesome! I love the detailing on it.

 

Hey, could any of you mini collectors post the stats for the BARC Speeder, Veractyl and Utapaun species traits, that I read were published in some mini's books? I'd really like to have them for my RPG game, but apparently they are only available in these mini books.

I think the Veractyl and BARC Speeder are in the "Attack on Endor Scenario Pack" book, and the Utapaun (hopefully both Utai and Pau'an) are in the "Ultimate Missions: Revenge of the Sith" book.

Does anyone have any promos yet? I have the promo Rodian Black Sun Vigo and the Yuuzhan Vong Warrior, and I know Syrix has a Gonk promo (woot!) because I was there when he got it.

What I want to try here, is to list a fairly powerful/playable piece and look at strategies for them. We might start with Han Solo, Rebel Hero (Rebel, 35pts); a SWOT analysis and some favoured combos, tactics. How does that sound?

Rogue, the Rancor is astounding. Not that great in gameplay, because there's few huge-friendly maps, but with the right support, it's grand.

I actually haven't had a chance to use the Rancor in play yet (cuz I don't play much anymore) but I think he wouldn't do too bad on the RotS map (the one that came with the RotS starter kit). It's not exactly Huge friendly, but I think sending him straight through the main corridor against low-level characters like clones would be pretty devastating.

I'd also like to try him out paired with the Nightsister.

 

There's a scenario that pits Mr 'cor against a crew of scabby fringers on the WOTC site now.

Of course, the new maps - one being the Rancor pit - suit him nicely.

I'm still much more of a Nightsister + Acklay kinda player. It's got higher HP and triple attack. However, there's something fun about 2 x Rancors, Nightsisters and Thrawn for pure nasty mayhem.

Not as cheesy as Thrawn + 3 x AT-STs, I'll grant you.

No, but truth be told, if I get ANY UM books, ROTS would be it. The CS maps didn't grab me, and I don't generally like the scenarios I've seen in it. I have the new, legal Bespin map from UM:RS (the stairs in the main hallway and carbonite chamber are now yellow "difficult" terrain - movement costs x2, with no cover bonus). The ROTS maps - Mustafar for melee only action, another Invisible Hand map which I just love - and scenarios are great fun.

Funnily enough, Palpatine doesn't beat the 4 Jedi Masters...

Also, Anakin Sith Apprentice = teh win.

Hello,I just started palying the d7d version of the minis and if its anything like Star wars i'm going to have some fun. I collected a few packs of the mins for collection purposes but never to play with. but i don't think my AT-AT will be legal much.

 

How can the bounty hunter set be the hudge set? there aren't a lot of ground vehicles associated with the fringe.

 

Not now that Vipers have been made.

I suspect, whilst the theme may be bounter-hunter specific some remaining huges will get thrown in, things we haven't seen yet but should.

I suppose a Jawa/Ronto mini? Ion Gun + Momentum?

The official site has a CotF preview, too. Looks like Bly, an Arcona, an Ugnaught, Darth Bane, Mas Amedda, Mace Windu, Dark Jedi Master, and Bacara.

And they used stat cards of R2 and Bossk as mini-notebook covers.

I haven't really been a fan of these Miniatures, but I have to admit I'm curious about the stats of various characters. Would it be worth my while to buy these Miniature sets just to get these stats, or is there a way I can get these stats without getting the Miniatures.

By the way, the stats for Kyle, aren't the same as the ones posted in POTJ sourcebook? They're the ones that were completely off, right?
