I forget what I have written sometimes and have to go back and refresh myself before I contradict something.

The command staff of the rebel fleet was gathered together in the meeting center of the ?Theed?. There was much excitement in the room, as the tide of battle seemed to be shifting against the Empire. The victories at Yavin and Naboo had been a great morale boost to the rebel forces and they were anxiously awaiting their orders for their next campaign.

Mon Mothma stepped forward and the room hushed so that she could speak. She looked out over the gathered assembly for a moment before she spoke. ?Commanders, we should all be proud about our recent victories against the Empire, but I do not wish us to think that the battle is over. Recent news has come to light that tells us the Empire may be moving towards a final confrontation and that we must step up our campaign before they gain the upper hand. Commander Luke Skywalker has informed us that there is a second Death Star that has nearly completed construction and our own internal spy networks have allowed us to confirm this news. Our path is now clear. Admiral Ackbar??

The Mon Calamari Admiral stood up at this introduction and brought up the start charts for all to see. ?This new Death Star in located in the Endor system, orbiting a moon of the Endor gas giant. We cannot assume that a snub fighter assault will allow us to destroy the Death Star as we did before. The Empire will have analyzed our attack and resolved this weakness and we cannot assume that the Empire has left this Death Star vulnerable to attack in any way, so a new plan is necessary?.

General Madine interrupted Admiral Ackbar. ?What hope do we have then in attacking the Death Star if it is as invulnerable as you say it is??

?The Death Star is not invulnerable General? continued Admiral Ackbar. ?We are not planning a direct military strike on the Death Star, but in infiltration.? This caused quite a stir with the attending commanders.

?Infiltration? How in space will me manage this!?? questioned General Dodonna.

?Our plan is this. Firstly, we have captured several Imperial vessels from the Naboo shipyards. While we would not dream of using the Star Destroyers we captured, the shuttles and TIE escorts we captured should allow us to approach and dock with the Death Star. The storm trooper gear and armor we captured should provide us enough cover to infiltrate into the crewing. Secondly, for the actual infiltration, as it so happens we have among us some who have been inside the Death Star and can provide us with vital information. In addition to Princess Leia?s, Commander Skywalker?s and Captain Solo?s firsthand information, the droid R2-D2 was able to capture much information from the Death Star computers.?

Another burst of excitement came from the audience as all eyes turned towards Luke, Leia and Han. General Madine again broke the commotion. ?Admiral, do you really think we can accomplish this??

Mon Mothma spoke this time. ?General, we have no choice. We cannot allow the Empire to possess this weapon. We denied one Death Star to the Empire; we will deny them this one as well. Failure to do so will mean the end of freedom as we know it in the galaxy. We must capture the Death Star.?

sorry I'm late in replying. As tax season gets closer my internet time at work will be decreasing so it will depend on how fast my dial up at home works to how fast I can reply soon. But I will reply so don't worry.

 

He had been in the service of the Empire for many years and finally had a command of his own. He hoped to prove himself to his superiors for their trust in his command. Hopefully the actions he was taking upon himself would do just that. From the observation deck of the ?Reliant?, Commander Veers looked out at the Tenab nebula. In comparison to other nebulae, the Tenab nebula was rather small, only 2 AU in diameter. It was also very dense, making it impossible to scan. The nebula was wracked with what could best be called storms, with only a few clear passages into its center. Small ships could navigate the storms, but larger capital ships would have to use the passageways. As it was, the nebula made an excellent hiding place.

The ?Reliant? had recently captured a smuggler ship. The captain had offered up some information in the hopes of saving his own neck. In addition to sacrificing his cargo, he had told them of the location of some potential rebel fleet activity in the Tenab nebula. The normal course of action would have been to notify fleet command and wait for orders, but he had decided on is own to investigate. That was of course, why he had been given command, because he was intelligent and made good decisions. Of course it was, he thought to himself.

Veers knew better than to just take the ?Reliant? directly into the nebula and see what was there, and scans were of course, futile, so he instructed his flight deck commander to launch one squadron of TIE fighters into the nebula on a scouting mission only. They were instructed not to engage the enemy in anyway, but to return with a report of what was found.

On board the command deck of the ?Theed?, General Madine thought about the plan that had been laid out to them earlier. Capture the Death Star? It seemed foolish to attempt such a plan, but what was the alternative? Watch planets that opposed the Empire be snuffed out one by one?

A bridge officer spoke out. ?General Madine, have something on scanners!?

This broke the general?s reverie. ?What is it?? he asked.

?That?s strange? said the bridge officer, ?it?s gone now.?

?Well what did it appear to be??

?For a moment it looked like a squadron of TIE fighters or something like that. I have nothing now though.?

?TIE fighters? Are you sure??

?No sir, I am not, but there was something.?

?This nebula can play havoc with the scanners lieutenant. If they were Imperials, they would have attacked, don?t you think??

?Yes, sir, I guess?

?Carry on then.?

On board the ?Reliant?, General Veers listened to the report bridge officer. ?General, the pilots report spotting several ships in the nebula that fit the description of ships of the rebel fleet.?

?Excellent commander, excellent.? Veers smiled to himself; here was his chance to prove his worth. Veers called up the monitor to speak with the flight deck commander. ?Commander, I wish a full deployment of TIE fighter squadrons in these locations.? Veers indicated several points on the monitor that showed up on the flight deck commanders monitor. They were all points outside the nebula, potential exit points on the path of least resistance leaving the nebula. Ships could not make the jump to hyperspace from inside the nebula and would have to leave it if they hoped to escape in the standard rebel methods. ?We shall cast our nets and see what we can catch.?

?Yes, General, right away sir!?

Veers watched as the TIE fighters moved into positions. Now to drive them out, he thought to himself. Next, he contacted the weapons commander. ?Commander, I wish you to launch a full missile barrage a these points in the nebula.?

?Yes sir.?

?Now we shall see what we can catch.?

The bridge of the ?Theed? shook with the impact of a missile. Reports came in from several other ship
