So the main characters will be young rebels on an occupied planet, probably. I think we'll have more comparisons to Tron Uprising...

    TRON: UPRISING was AWESOME.

So I hope that's the case.

Though I doubt they'll be able to make it as violent and brutal.

I didn't see Tron Uprising, but TCW had suicide, child killing, and necrophilia.

And so do fairy tales, unless they're toned down by Dizz-Nee. ^^

....wait -- Tron Uprising was Disney, right? Sort what level of violence are we discussing here? (I'm just going off what Uli had said)[face_dunno]

Uprising had fairly frequent death, torture, mutilation and brainwashing.

Except they called it stuff like "de-rezzing", "bad code" and "reprogramming".

Basically, because the characters were "virtual", they could get away with anything.

...only TCW's most famous animated gif ever!

CN cut it from the original broadcast but included it on one of the reruns... oddly.

Oh, ah. Yeah. Umm, okay. I didn't really think of it like that.
I thought we promised not to talk about that again, for legal reasons.

I'm not saying Ventress isn't a necrophiliac, but I don't think that moment clinches it.

Look, fellas, if someone has a different opinion to you, it's okay to not immediately leap on it and hammer it with a stick. Especially if you've made your own opinion noted over, and over, and over again.

You know, a lot of TCW bashers could learn that lesson, lord Uli. Perhaps the time is coming to... educate them?

I'm excited. The panel announcement gives us our first look into the tone and style of what Rebels will look like early on (I expect serial escalation to kick in at some point, there's no way the focus will stay small). I wonder what planet or planets will be focused on? I'd love it if they set the series on a planet that we've heard of but never seen in this time period. Like Corellia or Chandrilla, or even Alderaan.

Necrophilia? Is that what I'm missing by not having watched the last season yet?

EDIT: Oh, never mind, you addressed it a few posts later.

I'm curious how this Rebels series will. While TCW had some really crappy episodes, there was still I liked and overall I'm not that bothered by it. Rebels could be fun. Do we know what period it's supposed to be set in (I'm guessing after Yavin IV but before Toprawa could be cool)?

Also, are they ever going to release the last TCW season as a direct to DVD or something?

They've said several times on the official site it's between ROTS and ANH. The early Empire on the rise, while a rebellion is slowly starting to form. Next month will have more info:

Star Wars Rebels: The Might of the Empire
    Saturday, October 12, 2013
    2:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m., Room 1E
What happens when the Galactic Empire takes over a planet? What if Imperials took interest in your world, and garrisoned Stormtroopers and TIE fighters to maintain order? Star Wars Rebels, the thrilling, all-new animated television series from Lucasfilm for Disney XD will ask those questions -- and so will this panel hosted by Lucasfilm's resident Star Warsexpert, Pablo Hidalgo.
Details on the show are closely guarded, but fans at NYCC will get a first look at new art from the series, and learn new information about the formidable forces of the Galactic Empire. Star Wars Rebels is set between Episodes III and IV, and it is a dark time in the galaxy. In the spirit of the original trilogy, the Empire is once again the preeminent villain of the saga, and Star Wars Rebels puts the awesome might of Imperial forces in the spotlight.
The series is still a year away, so don't miss this chance to get an early look at its development.
