    Rebels!Maul is a closer analogue to ESB!Yoda.

This'd be the same refrain that says Marvel is terrible and Rebels simply awful, right?

Expectations tend to determine reality, I don't actually expect that much from Star Wars material.

In that respect, both have proven entertaining so the job's done.

Well, funny you should mention that Quest, Jelo and I are up to something in that respect.

I'll be going for episode order, a chrono order suggests there are flashbacks so be interesting to see how that works.

The flashbacks are... not quite what you might think. The most of the episodes that do flash back are honestly more confusing when viewed in normal order than anything, as there is no actual indication that they don't follow the previous episode. And a lot of times they're prequels to episodes you might not remember all that well by that time.

I'd say the chronological order makes for a much more understandable viewing experience.

Yeah, it was more a matter of Lucas going, "Hey, let's tell some stories that happened before x episode", and everyone going along with it. It doesn't appear to have been done for dramatic/thematic reasons, as much as, "oh, we should've told this story. Hey, why can't we?" There's generally no frame making clear it's earlier in the chronology, or connected to other events unless you pay really, really close attention. Sometimes you wouldn't realize it took place earlier until you see someone, and was like, "Woah, umm, didn't he die?"

Check out the official chronology - partway through season 3 the weird chronology stops, and you can just relax and go straight through the rest.

Having done both orders? I prefer the chronological.

It boils down to, they had to tell simpler stories early in the series when they didn't have a giant amount of assets, and as their options expanded they went back and filled stuff in here and there, which didn't do the show any favors in the early years but in retrospect it's maybe better than a show where the war itself gets more and more elaborate as time goes on. I'm definitely excited to do a chronological rewatch sooner or later.

Maybe the only thing that is a little weird in chronological order is Bane's droid-his offscreen Pablo resurrection is more noticeable in chrono order than when the episodes arent viewed back to back and a season's distance might blur the details of his status:.

Other than that though, I also think chrono order is better.

I think the other thing was Onaconda Farr showing up once or twice after the episode in which he was killed off.

    Cad Bane's tubing.

What the heck was that? And why did it disappear?

Did we ever get an explanation?

Contradiction tubes. They sustained the EU in his presence.

Lucas said people would be confused if he didn't have the tubes.

    People were confused anyway.

The Universe actually exists in Cad Bane's head.

    It all makes sense now.

Wait, what about the other Duros? Oh they are parallel Universes.

I've actually started a chronological viewing last week, planning to go all the way to the end of Rebels S2 (bluray incoming :D). Having a blast with it.

The show's visual quality takes a HUGE leap forward by the end of season 3 (the episodes where Ahsoka is kidnapped by the Velocirap... Trandoshans are amazing).

Lol the Rebels show contradicts itself in its own episodes, so contradictory Duros are a bit redundant now
