I was also under the impression that the turbolasers were being diverted by the anomaly, not the staff.

Also, regarding the more general discussion, my takeaway from the narrative presentation is that this was a special event tied to the ritual/the prophecy/the circumstances. The viewer is not meant to understand that Zeb now has a Do-Anything Staff for generic future use.

 

The turbolaser shots seemed to be getting swallowed up by the black holes. I kinda felt like the staff wasn't really *shielding* the Ghost from the black hole's gravity either, but like...moving it through some kind of super tiny, probably shifting like crazy safe zone between the gravity fields. I mean, they didn't just go straight, they had to kinda maneuver around some (and that's what gets the TIEs crunched when they try to follow without a super staff to guide them) before Zeb finally says he sees the way through. /shrug

 

Just got around to seeing this weeks episode, it was good. Loved the visuals, the music and the mythical theme.

Wish we could have seen Lirasan though, and maybe learn more about what happened on Lasan. Still wonder if the Empire just killed everyone in a ground invasion and the kept the planet , BDZ'ed it, or straight up destroyed it.

 

It works great as a dry rub.

 

Finally got around to watching...and absolutely legally, I might add.

One of my least favorite episodes. I like the idea of reintroducing the concept of Ashla. That whole thing might have worked better if it wasn't spoiled in the preview, if the audience was surprised along with Zeb.

In any case, I thought the "wisdom" and threes prophesy fell a little flat. And Zeb's "Aunt" kept giving me Dark Crystal flash backs:



I was half-expecting her to pull out one of her eyes.

Also, the show, and SW in general, has to be careful with using the Force as a sort of Batman utility belt...some new, convenient ability that helps resolve plot conflicts as required. I think the show has been generally good with that, but the area covered here was a tipping a little too close to utility belt levels than I would like.

But, really, this episode can work if it has major ramifications for Zeb's character. An experience like that can really impact a person's worldview and how they perceive their existence in the grand scheme of things.

If this experience changes Zeb in a meaningful and permanent way, which I think it should, that would make this episode be more than filler between story arcs.

But I predict Zeb will return to the same Zeb with generic allusions to his new ability/perspective.

 

I think The Honorable Ones is absolutely poised to build on this. He has half closure right now, all that's left is to resolve his conflict with Kallus.

 

Patient and Saintly are not typically adjectives used in conjunction with the Sith.

Probably, though are they willing to go there with the main character, that would make him more interesting than he is by far.
