Star Wars: Republic Commando (XBox | PC)

Well, a new Star Wars game has been introduced at E3 by Microsoft.

From Gamespot: Star Wars: Republic Commando

It's obviously a game involving the Clone Wars, but what's up with the bugs?

Maybe it's those pirahna bugs from Yavin.

The bugs are Geonosians. The game title is Republic Commando (singular), FYI.

The troopers there look like they might be ARC Troopers.

Yeah, after thinking about it, I figured they meant Geonosians when they said bugs. Big bugs, but still bugs.

D'oh, maybe a mod can take that s out for us....

Damn, cant see the trailer. What does it show exactly?

Opens with the Lucasarts logo, which occasionally gets distorted by static before fadinga way to static and then to black.

Then we fade in to a dark, misty, seemingly abandoned Geonosian room, as a few flashlights slowly sweep across the floor, lighting the way for somebody. Fade to black

Fades into what appears to be that entry cavern Obi-wan snuck into, only unlit, as the shadow fo a clonetrooper is seen brifly in one of the flashlight beams as they approach a catwalk. The shadow of a Geonosian flies past camera above them, quietly. Fade to black.

Fade in on another abandoned room with pillars and the bodies of Clone troopers scattered about. The Geonosian sticks to one of the pillars, hiding behind it before fluttering it's wings and crawling off into the shadows.

The Clonetroopers (might be ARC Troopers) round teh corner and spot the Geonosian- who quickly dashe sout of the spotlight. It's joined by another and we get a POV-shot of a Clonetrooper following two others in pursuit.

The Geonosians enter a doorway as the CLone Troopers take up positions near the entrance, and then move in. Fade to black.

Fade in on a dark room crawling with dozens of Geonosians. We get a nice closeup of one yelling. The Clone troopers then open fire into the crowd as some scatter. Some troopers turn about to shoot the ones off the walls and celing.

Our POV is then rushed bya Geonosian leaping from the walls- fading into static.

Then we get the Star Wars: Republic Commando title, the 2004 release date and the X-BOx live logo.

I hate to be negative but this unoriginal concept doesn't do anything at all for me. Aren't there enough gritty, violent FPS games *outside* the Star Wars universe? This looks like Aliens with a Clonetrooper helmet. Pass.

I would have loved a new X-Wing game. Oh well, the Larry Holland flight sim and Rebel Strike will have to do!

It seems the stormtrooper gene has leaked into their system.

There was like 5 of em', against about 200 bugs. I loved how they opened up fire like that. This looks like Halo with a pure star wars twist.

I loved that last scene... How the one on the left gets hit like twice... staggers back up to fire a few more shots before he's completely knocked down... Amazing. [face_shocked]

Wow...thanks for the pictures! Looks good! A Star Wars game with teamplay and good objectives has been sadly lacking....and this looks like it will remedy that problem! Very, very exciting! Honestly, I'm looking forward to a game with no Jedi, and just good old gunplay. Well....let's start some speculation! Do you think it will be like Counterstrike with one or two-hit kills? I very much hope so!
