Pablo said once the name was inspired by "tantivy", IIRC, so I guess that's how Lucas has always said it, and it just rarely comes up.

I didn't hear Tan-ti-vee though; I heard "Tan-ta-teeve" and was terribly confused. The former makes more sense :p

I've always said/thought "Tan-tiv." Hopefully we'll hear the pronunciation in the movie.

The whole Tantive IV/Sundered Heart business was Bail Organa's way of keeping the Emperor off guard--Palpatine never knew if Organa was on one ship or the other (thus Organa being able to hide his Rebel activity for so long--the Imperials were always inspecting the wrong ship). Eventually the Empire got sick of it and just destroyed Organa's planet.

Have not read any of the earlier pages so forgive me if this has already been asked: do we see any non-humans or animals in trailer?

Nope. However, we know the film has aliens, and quite a few.

We actually see at least one, he's in the corner of a scene. Looks like he doesn't have much of a traditional head.

Yes, at minimum. Lucas probably pronounced it that way too, but he pronounces all sorts of things funny so I don't take it as official unless it's in something official (like the radio drama).

I went along with Palpa-teen reluctantly. I refuse to go along with this Tantivee business.

The best part was that it was only one ship, and the Empire still kept inspecting the wrong one.

Really, Coruscant was the hardest thing to go along with.

Were you expecting PAL-puh-tahyn (basically palatine with an extra p)? It was always pal-pah-TEEN to me, but that's probably because my mother tongue is French.

(As an aside, note that pâle patine , which of course is pronounced almost exactly like the Emperor's name, is a French phrase for "pale patina".)

On a similar note: Han is Swedish for 'he', and since Swedish for 'her' is hon, so a gender-bender version of Han Solo should be named Hon Solo.

I was just playing the old PC game 'Star Wars: Rebellion' the other day (which was released before the prequels), and C-3PO pronounces the Emperor's name as Palpat-TYNE (rhymes with mine) in the game. :c3po:

I think they got that one right, so no troubles there. I think even SOTE and its score used "sahnt" instead of "scaunt".

I was expecting Palpa-tyne (like 'time' with an 'n' instead of an 'm'.).

you forget sir that tie fighter > g-canon

If I want to see that time that the Chosen One and another cool force-wielding dude raced back to Coru-scant to save Palpatine from being kidnapped, and with that scene commencing with two fighters flying over a Star Destroyer, I aint watching ROTS. [face_shame_on_you]
