This thread is for reassembling all the documentaries, TV reports/discussions regarding the Star Wars saga. It doesn't include documentaries regarding the fan community only such as The People vs George Lucas. It's neither the place to post something negative towards the franchise or some sort of bashing.

It's only documentaries explaining the inspiration and the sources behind the making of the Star Wars saga, its cultural influence over the world, the technological achievements, behind the scenes, George Lucas' interviews explaining the Star Wars saga, etc...

The making of TPM looks so intense. Everyone looks like they're on edge.

And Benn Burtt looks kinda pissed at George sometimes...

 

I'm no legal expert, but is posting unauthorised content from DVD's put on youtube technically a legal thing to do?

 

I could have sworn that there was a similar thread, but given that I might be mistaken, and/or it doesn't seem to be particularly recent, this can stay. It's a cool idea for a thread in any case.

 

Yeah, I seem to recall a similar thread from ages ago, but I don't think it was ever stickied, and didn't catch on as a result.

Terrific idea for a thread - there's plenty of appropriate material over in CT (in the stickied BTS pics/footage thread). Unfortunately, there was an obscure French doco that seems to have diappeared, or didn't make the merge. Will keep an eye out.

No - but I think most studios and copyright holders have given up when it comes to material they're not really making money from anymore.

Posting the entire film of The Empire Strikes Back on YouTube would certainly raise the ire of LFL/Disney - but uploading the 'Making of' doco (SPFX) from a VHS or even from the 2011 Blu-Ray isn't something that will spark the bloodlust of the reptilian creatures they employ to deal with their legal issues (certain cultures use the term 'lawyer'). Best they can gun for is the removal of the video - no financial settlement, no jail terms, so no satisfaction for these sadistic, slithering monsters who thrive on pain and suffering - and it'll just happen again six months later anyway. Waste of time even bothering, unless the uploader is making money from it, either via YouTuve ad revenue, or on a personal blog/website.

Here's a very recent documentary broadcasted by ESPN a couple of months ago. It talks about the evolution of the lightsabers duels from the original trilogy, to the prequels and to The Force Awakens, and the heavy influence of Asian culture and Japanese fighting style, Kendo, on it. The documentary was hosted by Mark Hamill just before the release of TFA.

I'm surprised you guys haven't mentioned Elstree 1976! This is only a trailer, but it's coming out in some theaters and on VOD services on Friday.

 

The documentary that shall not be named was in fact mostly bits and CLIPS FROM OTHER documentaries.
