I tell ya...there was a LINE going into theatre for that movie ( HTLAGIT)...However, you should have seen some of the guy's face ( who unfortunately were dragged by their girlfriend/ wife). They have LOONG faces

I guess I really overestimated Shanghai Knights' populaarity. If it only made a measly $6 million+ on Friday, no way will it earn $35 million (my prediction) this weekend. I thought it was going to be a hot movie. Oh well.

 

I saw "Shanghai Knights" tonight - great fun, definately better than the first one.

As for TTT, I have no doubt it will come in #9 or #10 for the weekend, once saturdays and sundays numbers are known.

Well, if AOTC:TIE manages to keep 8 screens for Fri-Sat-Sun, I'd be hoping for figures along these lines...

Friday - $5,000
Saturday - $8,000
Sunday - $2,000

AOTC:TIE usually doesn't hold very well from Saturday to Sunday, so I think that looks right with regards to my $15,000 prediction.

Last weekend, it made...

Friday - $7,194
Saturday - $11,540
Sunday - $2,630

Daredevil have a 50 million dollar opening weekend because all the women and homosexuals will want to see Ben Affleck in red leather! [face_shocked]

SW will not make anything because the Imax money shouldn't count!

Don't jump the gun, BlueMules, those are only estimates. Sonja_Raven had $20m and Jabbadabbado $17.5m, so it wouldn't need much variation to differ. Movie studios tend to overestimate. I hope you win, but, you know, don't count your chickens before they hatch and all that

TTT did well enough on Saturday and Sunday to stay in the top 10. It dropped 33.7% . Now lets see what Oscar does for it next week. And on another note, the gap between FOTR and TTT seems to be closing. Last year FOTR made $3,618,397 on it's 8th weekend. It has now passed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It has $9 million to go before it passes the next slot, Forrest Gump. I think it will have no problem doing that.

 

Oscar predictions come out next week? When? I can't wait!

 

Oscar nominations will be announced Tuesday. Any film nominated for Best Picture should get some sort of bump next weekend.

We'll hopefully get the actual weekend figures within...(checks watch)...well, I guess around 20 hours...maybe 15 if we're lucky.

 

Well.....nominees for Razzies Award will be announced tomorrow...

I have a BAD feeling about this.....

 

TTT will get the following oscar nominations tomorrow morning:

In response to DarthAttorney's comment, many of us feel that all box office discussion is related to Star Wars since Star Wars sets the gold standard for box office and sequel success.

Implicit in almost every post is a comparison to the huge box office achievements of the Star Wars saga. But mostly the comparison is explicit, and overt.

 

All I know is that I count 17 posts on this page alone that have nothing to do with Star Wars. And it's more than common through the past 10-odd pages of this thread.
