Steve and I have been inspired to create a short fan film. We will be filming sometime within the next two weeks. If anyone's interested in getting involved and helping with this project, let me know and we'll see what we can do, we'll most likely need help with...

A long time ago, in a galaxy far,
far away...

STAR WARS

NEW JEDI ORDER
SHADOWS OF DARAC

Many years have passed since the
destruction of the second DEATH
STAR by the REBEL ALLIANCE. LUKE
SKYWALKER has moved to breath
new life into the once noble JEDI
ORDER. He has since established
a training academy on the jungle
world of YAVIN IV.

From this location, LUKE SKYWALKER
trains new JEDI and sends them on
important missions throughout the
GALAXY. On one such mission, a
young JEDI KNIGHT named KEL
KALLON was sent to the planet
DARAC, a world consumed by an
eternal eclipse, he never returned.

MASTER SKYWALKER has chosen
to send his most promising student,
DAV GAVIN to investigate this
disturbing turn of events. Unknown
to DAV there is something sinister
waiting for him in the darkness of
the planet below...

 

I just spoke with Jarus and he wanted to know if anyone had any replicas of Vader's or Anakin's sabers, no blades.
If you do, please let him or I know. It's not critical but it would be great to know as soon as possible.

question about the opening crawl:

if someone already went, has become incommunicado, and another has been sent to investigate "disturbing" events wouldn't you just assume that something sinister was going on? i know i would.

 

Uh... they don't KNOW that it's sinister... they're trying to find out if it is or not... you always gotta come in here and make trouble don't you amy!!!

 

Lack of communication does not indicate bad things; maybe it is an equipment malfunction.
Of course, in movies like this, seemingly innocuous happenstance often is precipitated by very bad people.

 

A quick prop question:
Does anyone have an X-wing pilot's helmet or something that could pass for a pilot's helmet (doesn't have to be X-wing) that we could use for the film?

 

A few brainstorms I had today for the film.
1. The planet is home to Sith fortress. I think we established that it would be the planet for the Jedi vs. Sith comics.
2. Since it has a Sith fortress, the walls from the tunnel in the park could have Sith markings. SW.com has a symbol that is supposed to represent the Sith cult. We could fancy it up with markings from Maul's tattoos surrounding it.
3. One way I thought that the sequence of events could go was as follow...
a. Dav lands in his X-wing and walks down throught woods. As he does, his foot kicks at an object on the ground. When he shines his glowstick, he discovers it is Kel's pilot helmet, apparently abbandoned. He continues on and finds the trench. He hops down and notes the Sith marking, though he doesn't completely understand their significance. He climbs out of the trench and sees something shiny nearby. He reaches it and discovers either a Sith holocron or a Sith lightsaber crystal, depending on which prop is done (the crystal would be easy). Then the duel begins. ALl through at Dav's explorings the dialogue is going on, with moody music as he discovers more and more that something very dark is here and not just due to the lack of sunlight.
Speaking of which, I think we should lighten Steve's face a little because he's been deprived of sun for a while so it would be a little paler.
Just some thoughts I had.
