I just finished listening to the full cast audio drama of Ian Doescher's William Shakespeare's Star Wars and it is must listening. The book is, of course great, but listening to the actors perform is even better! I highly recommend it. It's a must have and I rank it right up there with the movies. What sayest thou? I am a daft knave? Forsooth! For let me give examples of why it's so awesome. -Monologues by the characters flesh out their thoughts during certain scenes, like Luke when he looks at the setting suns and Darth Vader when he enters the Tantive -R2-D2 plays the classic Shakespearean fool and speaks English! You gotta hear/read his comments on C-3PO and Han Solo -Leia sings (not in the holiday special kind of way) a sad lament after Alderaan is destroyed -Many, many references to existing Shakespeare plays in lines and structure. See examples here: http://www.quirkbooks.com/sites/default/files/editor_uploads/ShakespeareStarWars_EducatorsGuide.pdf -John Williams music, SW sound effects and much, much more. Truly a SW experience on its own. If you want to listen: http://www.audible.com/pd/Sci-Fi-Fa...f=a_search_c4_1_1_srTtl?qid=1389718498&sr=1-1 If you want to read, check your local library or Barnes and Noble. Anybody else read the book?
I've read most of the book (it's one I can pick up for a few minutes in waiting rooms and not have lost the plot). It's a scream. And the author truly knows his Shakespeare! Damnéd Audible.... I do not have an account with them!
