OOC: The rules have changed slightly since we started. Just posting an update for new players.

    -----

Hi there. :) Welcome to the Star Wars Text Adventure thread.

    The Basics:
    - This thread will be an ongoing game paying tribute to the days of Zork and other interactive fictions.
    - Each adventure takes place within the Star Wars galaxy.
    - Players use text commands to control the main character and influence the simulated environment.

The game can be thought of as a cross between fan fiction and role playing.

    Rules and Gameplay:
    - Every scenario requires the players to achieve a primary goal.
    - Points are awarded when a player solves a crucial puzzle or finds a valuable item.
    - New players can join the game at any time. There is no limit to the amount of players allowed.

When multiple players post, commands will be taken in the order received.

    -----

Please type this prompt (>) before a command.

Hi Ekhranomicka. :) That was quite bizarre. After a long break, I was in the process of writing the next post when I noticed your inquiry. :D

Yes, I've written new versions where the points from this initial round will allow players to 'buy' characters for the next adventure. However, I plan to finish up this quest first. The next post should be up this weekend.

Unfortunately, DRL forces me to take unwanted breaks. Hopefully, I can devise a way for others to help me host the adventures.

I also plan to revive the Star Wars Jeopardy thread as soon as possible.

Hope you decide to participate! [face_peace] Please feel free to post a command before the next entry goes up, and have a stellar day.

Releasing a demented laugh, you prepare to block the incoming blaster bolts with your emerald blade.

The first two shots impact against 2-1B, the droid positioned between you and the four imperials. Sparks fly, and the medical droid clatters to the floor in pieces.

Ricocheting off your saber, the third blast strikes a locker. As you begin to insanely run towards the imps, their fourth shot grazes your left shoulder. “Hatred has made me powerful!” you howl while running down the aisle of lockers.

The imperials look at each other before squeezing off another round of shots. As you descend upon the first two troopers, one bolt is deflected by your blade while the other hits your forearm cleanly. (Hit Points: 3 / 5) The remaining pair of bolts miss you completely, and the officer flees. He heads back to the medical bay.

Landing between the two troopers, you attempt to recall any specialized martial arts, but your amnesia isn’t cooperating. Apparently, you have no knowledge of the sai cha maneuver, so you swing wildly at a trooper’s head. He steps back, and your emerald blade strikes his partner, inflicting enough damage to put him out. (Stormtroopers Defeated: 11)

You don’t remember cho mok, so you awkwardly swing at the trooper again, targeting a limb. He blocks the attack with his E-11 blaster rifle, which you chop in half. The third trooper winds up with his rifle, planning to strike you on the head.

Again, you attack the surprisingly elusive trooper, this time with a sloppy shiak thrust at his facemask. He brings up a second rifle and shoots, but your blade stabs through the nozzle, causing the E-11 to explode. (Stormtroopers Defeated: 12) The unexpected blast jostles you, and the third trooper misses your head with his blaster rifle. Instead, the weapon comes down upon your shoulder. (Hit Points: 2 / 5)

You certainly don’t know how to perform the mou kei, a Sith favorite. Despite your amnesia, it has become quite clear that you have no Sith history. You’ve already discovered that you’re a Jedi, and the finishing move was forbidden by the Order. Nevertheless, you’ve done a bang-up job at descending into darkness. (-1 Alignment: You are currently a -15 darksider.)

Randomly, you select cho sun rather than cho mai. You target the stormtrooper because the imperial officer is no longer here. Again, you recall no instruction, so you clumsily wave at the last trooper’s weapon-arm. He drops his blaster rifle while dodging, and you finish him off easily. (Stormtroopers Defeated: 13)

(‘24’ mode on) There is no one left to interrogate! (‘24’ mode off) :D

You catch up to one of the fleeing 2-1Bs just before he enters the medical bay. Pointing at your defeated enemy, you speak to the cowardly droid. “I am a compassionate Sith Lord, so take care of that unconscious stormtrooper.” (+1 Alignment: You are now a -14 darksider.) “And I have a simple message for your superiors; Don’t follow me.”

    OOC: Ekhranomicka - Thanks.

You must drop your lightsaber in order to wipe your hands. The emerald blade fizzles out as you release the stud.
    - lightsaber: Dropped.

Luckily, the 2-1B is headed for the unconscious stormtrooper, so he doesn’t see you drop your weapon. However, it clatters to the floor, alerting the droid as he reaches the stormie. The Too-Onebee glances over at you for a moment, and then decides to administer the appropriate meds to the trooper. He seems to know better than to challenge you.

You wipe your hands with a grin of satisfaction. A cloud of dust forms around your hands, for you are quite the mess. “Well! That takes care of that!”

Suddenly, sirens blare again. You can sense that the fleeing imperial officer has issued another alert at the medical bay.

You can’t deactivate the lightsaber because it’s already deactivated. Instead, you decide to hide it upon your person. Specifically, up the left sleeve of your brown robe, where you find a specialized clip.
    - lightsaber: Taken.

Heading for the northern exit, you happily whistle ‘The Imperial March’ to yourself. Oddly, you’re not sure where you learned the impressive composition.

As you pass the 2-1B, you hear him addressing the imperials through his comlink. “Prisoner 50713165 has issued you a simple message. Don’t follow him.”

Pondering the intricacies of the universe and your existence, you continue to head towards the metallic walkway that leaves the storage facility to the northwest. It crosses a chasm, and leads into another mountain peak.

All nearby lockers are magnetically sealed, so you cannot search them in a conventional manner. However, you sense both medical supplies AND grenades somewhere in the northernmost aisle. (+1 Insight)
    Skill of INSIGHT: 7
    Zero = Average

You do recall putting a large dent in locker 13743500 by attempting to bend the doors through the force. Afterwards, you pulled the door off its hinges and discovered two Adegan crystals.

The disturbing klaxon continues to wail. You hear the turbolift at the south end of the medical bay whirring again. Now standing at the northwest exit’s threshold, you look back and notice that the stormtrooper has been revived by Too-Onebee. He’s groggy, and sits against the wall near the southern aisle of lockers.

A fierce wind blows at you from outside. Take precautions if you decide to traverse the catwalk leading to the next peak.

Peering across the metallic walkway, you decide there’s something familiar about this place. Then, a realization strikes you. ‘Ardana. Our first battle.’

Turning away from the exit, you walk along the northernmost aisle of the storage facility. A powerful breeze continues to blow in from outside, hastening your progress to the east. Allowing the force to be your guide, you sense an adhesive grenade and two thermal detonators nearby. Despite the gale, you manage to stop in front of locker 13743317.

You easily produce a large dent in the locker by utilizing the force. Pulling the door off its hinges proves simple, and you discover the three grenades. The locker also contains an orange Adegan crystal. Abruptly, the wailing siren ceases to sound.

After you deduce that imps must be near, the force beckons you once more. This time, you sense bacta canisters located seven lockers away. You walk up to locker 13743324 and employ your force ability again. The door comes off with ease, and you discover two bacta canisters. A personal shield generator is also contained within the locker. The fierce wind picks up, pushing you a few paces to the east.

You struggle against the wind, working your way back to the locker. Quickly, you grab a bacta canister before the gale gets even stronger.
    - bacta canister: Taken.
Sure enough, the wind strengthens, pushing you eastward again. You use an application of bacta as you're blown against the eastern wall. (Hit Points: 3 / 5)

Now, pinned to the wall by unimaginable wind, you look across the storage facility. Outside the northwest exit, you observe what appears to be five stormtroopers. You can hear their white plasteel boots clattering against the metallic walkway as they approach the room.

Planning to gather all of the helpful items, you struggle against the fierce wind.

Skill Points needed to reach locker 13743324 = 2
Skill Points needed to reach locker 13743317 = 3
Skill Points needed to claim all items = 5
    STRENGTH + TENACITY + LUCK
    Your Total: 1 + 1 + 1 = 3

As you fight, the intensity of the strong gale diminishes. This allows you to clumsily reach locker 13743324. You position your hands within the locker, pushing against the durasteel walls for support. Your feet nearly come off the floor as you grab the personal shield generator.
    - Taken.
Unfortunately, the second bacta canister falls to the floor as you fumble about. It is blown to the east wall by the wind. You must continue.

Using all of your strength, you’re able to make your way back to locker 13743317. Again, you balance yourself by wedging your arms within the unit. As the gale’s speed increases once more, you manage to claim an adhesive grenade, a thermal detonator, and the orange Adegan crystal.
    - 3 Items Taken.
The second thermal detonator is blown out of your grasp and rolls to the east wall.

Obviously, some kind of windstorm is brewing outdoors. The five stormtroopers cling to the banister of the metallic walkway, slowly making their way towards the storage facility. You activate your newly acquired shield generator while hanging on to the locker’s edge.
Now using personal shield generator #2
Defense Points: 3 out of a maximum 10
Letting go would surely result in a speedy trip towards the eastern wall.

The hate is swelling in you now, and the dark side strengthens your ability to battle the gale. You easily progress to the threshold of the northwest exit, where you stop and stare at the oncoming troopers while securing yourself against the outer wall.

Now you can see that the metallic walkway crosses a great chasm with no bottom in sight. Another walkway attaches two peaks further south. You would have to jump the gaping canyon in order to reach it. The mountain continues upwards for several hundred feet, and mynocks circle the apex.

You only have one thermal detonator, which you activate. You’re close enough to the troopers that the toss is easy. Using the force to push the grenade through the stubborn wind, you accomplish your goal. The detonator lands upon the walkway near the third stormtrooper, clanking as it bounces. Two stormies flank your target on each side. A perfect throw!

Bracing yourself against both sides of the northwestern aperture, you maniacally laugh. The stormtroopers take notice of the metallic grenade, but it’s too late. As the third trooper attempts to kick the device away, it detonates.

Between the bright explosion and the fierce wind, you’re blown backwards into the northern aisle of the storage facility. Luckily, you take no damage. Three stormtroopers plummet into the chasm, bellowing during the descent. The remaining two stormies hang off of opposite banisters, their white-clad feet dangling above the canyon. Now damaged, the walkway can’t take much more weight.
    Stormtroopers Defeated: 16
The metallic bridge creaks as gravity and the pair of troopers apply pressure.

You're sitting upon the floor of the storage facility's northern aisle. You wait patiently... and sure enough, you eventually hear the shrieking of winged creatures from outside.

Dusting yourself off after the detonation, you spring to your feet and head back to the edge of the chasm. The wind persists, but it's less intense at the moment. The creatures you heard are located above, circling the topmost peak of the outpost mountain. They're mynocks.

    - Since you don't consider the flying beasts 'large', you DO NOT jump into the gaping canyon.
    - There is no creature here to mount and tame.
    - Therefore, you cannot ride any 'large winged creature'. However, you start to sing 'The NeverEnding Story' and Limahl never sounded so good. You consider crooning the French version for a moment, but ultimately decide against it. :p

The damaged metallic walkway continues to creak, and descends a few feet. Two stormtroopers dangle above the chasm, dreading the high-pitched sound of twisted metal. You can hear the distinct whine of a TIE fighter engine to the south.

After a reasonable amount of time, you realize that no salvation in the form of a winged creature is coming from above. :)

Planning to sprint across the damaged walkway by enhancing your speed through the force, you back up all the way to the eastern wall of the storage facility. There are two items on the floor here: a bacta canister & a thermal detonator. The wind remains less intense. Now’s your chance.

Skill Points needed to reach opposite peak = 3
Skill Points needed to step on stormtrooper’s fingers while running = 5
Skill Points needed to step on BOTH stormtroopers’ fingers while running = 7
    ACCURACY + AGILITY + LUCK
    Your Total: 2 + 2 + 1 = 5

You accelerate through the storage facility. Bursting out of the northwest aperture into the canyon, you launch yourself skyward before reaching the metallic walkway. Your leap concludes as you land upon the fingers of the stormtrooper to the right. Off of the banister in an instant, you continue your rapid sprint across the catwalk. The trooper falls into the chasm.

You’re a few steps away from the opposite peak when the walkway starts to collapse. One last ditch effort allows you to jump into the nearby entrance. A TIE fighter whizzes past your head during this final leap. Whoa… close one!

Rolling into the peak with style, you hear the cringe-worthy sound of twisted metal as the entire walkway collapses into the maw of the canyon. The shriek of the durasteel is accompanied by the screams of the fifth trooper.
    Stormtroopers Defeated: 18
You come to a stop. Sprawled out on the floor of the newly-discovered room, you take a look around. There is no way back to the storage facility. The wind from outside becomes more intense.

    Research Lab
This is an immaculate room carved into the mountain peak. Though littered with numerous plasteel countertops and workstations, there is no observable equipment. Seemingly abandoned, the lab has four exits. All surfaces are white.

    - You entered from the east, where the aperture leads to a gaping chasm. A strong gale blows in from the outdoors.
    - The western wall houses a huge durasteel door. There appears to be no mechanism for operation. An astromech droid can be heard from beyond.
    - A metallic ladder leads up the northern wall to the lofty ceiling. The rungs protruding from the wall appear damaged.
    - To the southwest, a scramble of stairs descends into darkness. You can hear indistinct chatter from that direction.

Returning to your feet, you ponder what might be beyond the enormous durasteel door. Perhaps Ardana was attempting to infiltrate the west vault before you came across her out on the walkways.

NOTE: The Indiana Jones story you heard as a tyke managed to pop into your head. However, you used the knowledge of Mola Ram’s failure as a source of comfort and strength. This fortified your resolve, allowing you to focus upon the task at hand. Well done. =D=

OOC: Yep. :) Technically, you could fly by using a pair of mynocks. However, you’d have to use the force to control their movements. It wouldn’t be very comfortable if they were flying in opposite directions. :D As for ‘gracefully descending’, you would need to be quite skilled at controlling creatures through the force. Additionally, the mynocks are located hundreds of feet above you. Now… if you could only get up there somehow. Perhaps a ladder? A metallic ladder… with damaged rungs? ;)

You knock on the gigantic durasteel door and whistle. Your whistling sounds nothing like an Artoo unit. However, pounding upon the vault is enough to catch the droid’s attention. The distinct beeping of the astromech becomes clearer. You deduce that the droid has been alerted to your presence, and is approaching the opposite side of the door.

“Astromech… I command you to open the door!”

Upon hearing your voice, the droid warbles and bleeps. This astromech obviously recognizes you. The beeping grows louder as the droid celebrates in a joyous manner.

You quickly recognize the droid’s playful, cheery demeanor. There’s no mistaking the celebratory beeps and blips. It’s Arfour!

Someone is ascending the scramble of stairs to the southwest.

    R4-P23 continues to warble.

Loosely squeezing the customized hilt of your lightsaber, you intentionally avoid pressing the stud. You're standing at the ready, keeping a vigilant watch upon the nearby staircase.

"Arfour," you whisper at the vault's grand door. "I need that door opened." Your methodical stressing of each word alerts R4 to the urgency. His high-pitched trills can still be heard.

You can now hear the chatter from the stairs. The occupants are getting close. "...must analyze the information from those holographic messages on the datapad."

Another voice responds. "If the holos were recorded in the Outer Rim, we'll have our own personal map to those tremors."

"Just be ready to scrap that droid. Katarn will never get off this base without the datacard."

You tighten your grip, and observe the situation while you wait. It's tough to ponder solutions while Arfour's chirping grows louder.

"You hear that?" comes a voice from the scramble of stairs. "It sounds like an astromech." Just as the two imperials reach the lab, the gears of the metallic door start to whine. Arfour has initialized the unlocking process, and he chirrups his success.

The pair of imps notice you immediately. According to his rank insignia plaques, the male is a High Admiral. His companion is a female Durosian scientist with long hair. You thought all Duros were bald. Strange.

One solution to your predicament is apparent. You can scale the metallic ladder. Also, igniting the saber might help. :p

    > ignite saber, tell Arfour he did a bang up job and may not to watch this next part.
    > Yell "This is going to hurt you more than it hurts me, Imperial scum!"
    >force push female Durosian away
    > run towards High Admiral, strike him down with all of your hatred.

    *Snap-hiss!*

The emerald energy blade appears. Its soothing hum is quite satisfying.

"Bang-up job, Arfour." You ready yourself. "You might not want to watch what happens next."

Arfour's twittering lets you know he appreciates the praise. However, it's followed by a shrill tweet. Obviously, he wants to observe, but the mammoth door is still in the process of opening.

You yell your witty line, addressing the pair as Imperial scum. The High Admiral has returned to the stairs, crouching for cover and revealing his blaster. With an odd smirk upon her face, the Durosian hasn't moved a tinge. Her long, white trench coat billows from the strong westward wind.

A force-push backs the Duros up against the southern wall, next to the staircase. She doesn't appear phased in the slightest.
You have gained the skill of SPEED due to your quick decision-making.
    SPEED: 1
    Average = Zero

You sprint towards the High Admiral with swelling hatred. (-1 Alignment)
    DARK SIDE: -15
Just before you reach the stairs, you sway. Some outside force sweeps you off your feet, pushing you east. Before you even collide with the lab's floor, you realize that the scientist is force-sensitive. And she's powerful. Skidding across the immaculate floor, you stare at the Duros sternly. She's facing you now, hands still prepped to shove you again.
    HIT POINTS: 2 / 5

A stray blaster bolt hits the wall behind you as you take notice of the vault door. It's now fully opened and Arfour comes trundling out of the adjoining chamber. He chirps an out of place greeting.
