[Star Wars The Force Awakens] Rey's Sunrise

Summary: Rey Awakens to the twin sunrise of Tatooine's suns.

Notes: This was done for the Mods' Picture Challenge. For which my picture was the sunrise of the sun over the rippling ocean waters.

Rey awoke to the twin sunrise of Tatooine's suns as they rose over the desert piercing through her curtains telling her to wake up to a new day.

She sprang to life and wondered outside of her hut to inspect the sun's further. They were magnificent in their beauty as they pierced the dry landscape teasing the land with their heat and intensity. Even in the morning, the temperature was beyond hot as Rey felt her sweat start to run down her face.

She wiped away the glistening sweat, but as she did more beads began to form even more intensely than before as the sun was sweltering now. If she stayed out unprotected any longer, she surely would get severe sunburn.

She quickly threw on more layers of clothing to protect her from the sun's damaging effects. 'Strange,' she thought as she quickly started to sweat even more, 'I'd rather have hardly anything on', yet the effects of the sun had been known to kill before those that did not protect themselves from its intense heat and radiation.

She had a busy day planned for herself, but as usual she was running late to do her chores out in the harsh desert landscape. 'Those moisture evaporators are going to be ruined if you are late again,' she told herself as she loaded everything that she needed on her speeder and its additional cargo hold that was towed beyond the speeder.

She arrived at her destination and quickly activated the moisture evaporators which collected what little water that they could to keep the crops growing. It would be time to harvest soon, and she always looked forward to that time of year as it meant a break before planting again for the next season.

A piercing sound caught her attention and she saw a TIE fighter soar on by. But, this was no ordinary happenstance. No, the Empire had a small presence on Tatooine, but she hardly ever saw their craft out in the open. And this one was flying erratically, so erratic in fact that it crashed it the distance.

She saw a bellow of smoke and instantly detached her cargo hold from her speeder and kicked it into gear as she raced towards the crash scene. She could feel her heart beating faster as the adrenaline from the crash caused her to increase her speed.

She arrived at the impact point and could see that the TIE fighter was still surprisingly in one piece. The smoke was settling, but she could still smell burnt metal in the air. She instantly saw a Stormtrooper remove his headgear. He was smaller and his skin color was black.

"Hey", she called out, "Need any help?"

He looked frantic and instantly started to run away from her and the scene of the accident.

"Come back!" she yelled, "I mean you no harm!"

He did not pay any attention to her. But, something else caught her attention suddenly. A small little ball droid instantly rumbled itself also away from the wreckage of the TIE. She did not know why, but she followed it instead.

She had to re-board her speeder to catch up to the little droid as it scampered across the landscape as if it was purposely going somewhere. It was heading towards a settlement where a pub could be seen in the distance.

'That's strange that a droid would be going there,' Rey thought to herself, 'After all, droids are not allowed in bar establishments. This one must be lost or something.'

She stared strangely at the lightsaber that had been presented to her by Rose. The stormtrooper she had run into earlier was also there and instantly gravitated towards the object. He grabbed it and felt it in his hands as the rush of its power coursed through his hands. It was indeed a mighty weapon.

"How about you, dear?" Rose questioned her.

"I do not want that thing!" she raised her voice in protest, "It is a weapon, an evil weapon."

"No," Rose re-assured her, "Just to those that treat it as such. Your intentions are pure. Let her hold it," Rose pleaded to Finn.

Finn reluctantly passed the lightsaber to Rey who felt something from it; it was telling her she would do great things. She instantly gave it back to Finn.

"Here," she quickly gave it back to him not understanding it totally, "It seems to suit you better."

"No," Rose intercepted the weapon from Finn, "It suits you better and you know it."

Rey immediately bolted from her seat and ran towards the back exit from the pub. The exit was blocked by other Stormtroopers though that had obviously come for Finn. She immediately retreated from this exit, and instead went down a secret passage that presented itself to her as a means of escape.

She raced down the long tunnels as she now exited the pub from a distance. She saw that it was now in flames obviously from the battle that happened from the Stormtroopers that probably took Finn by force.

'Why did she not stay,' she thought to herself, 'Because you would have been captured as well,' she reasoned to herself. She suddenly saw an Imperial Star Destroyer closing in on the surface of the planet. It was going to crash!

Excellent use of the prompt picture and always glad to see a TFA fic starting.

 

Star Destroyer crashing on a planet?! That is going to cause a lot of damage. Just the visual in my head is great. Well Done.
