Quick run by with some clarifications I was asked for, since apparently edits are still finicky on my wifi:

    1. Like the man and the claw before them, these beings too are not detectable through the Force - though you did notice a ferocious eruption of Dark Side energy when the lightning bolts struck.

    2. There's still a bit of distance between y'all and the horde, so the route to the ruins has not been cut off - yet. Retreat also seems like a feasible course of action, although there's no guarantee that's any safer of an option.

As Vydraa was sprinting along the dry desert ground, he felt a familiar presence nearing him. With one quick glance behind he saw that it was Cain. The rest of the padawans were following as well but at a slower pace.

Giving Cain a curt nod he continued his pace towards the ruins. In doing so he reflected on a memory of his Master, whom he was positive wasn't dead, just simply missing.

A young Vydraa around the age of 13, sat in the co-pilot's seat next to his Master, Zven Asturon, who was piloting the ship. They were on their way back from their recent mission, to be debriefed by the Council. Vydraa had been fiddling with his necklace which bore his name on one side and on the other with a familiar engraved Mandalorian insignia.

During his childhood he rarely dared to ask about his past, as Jedis often discouraged delving into your family past. He was also aware of the distaste Mandalorians and Jedis had for each other. Although the Jedi Knight who had found him, somehow convinced the Council that they should let Vydraa keep the necklace he was found in. He was glad they did, as he often found solace during difficult times by merely holding onto the necklace.

Finally after fiddling with the necklace much too long, Zven spoke,

"Aren't you going to ask what's on your mind young one?"

Vydraa knew he wasn't fooling his Master, but he still hesitated for a moment

"What do you know about Mandalorians?"

Zven chewed over the question in his mind, and after a few seconds he replied

"Well not much will be found about them in the Archives, as Jedi and Mandalorians have a....strained relationship." He paused for a moment "But from personal experience I can surely say this" he put the ship on autopilot and turned to look in Vydraa's eyes. "Mandalorians are fierce fighters, intelligent thinkers, quick with wit, and are a very very proud of their heritage. All of which you are young padawan." He smiled as he talked, "Yet despite their seemingly 'horde-like' unity, each and every one of them are incredibly unique in their own way. Distinct armor coloring and modification, different species, personalities that stand apart from one another, and familial clans all of which have their own identity and heritage." Gesturing to Vydraa's choice of outfit - sparring outfit with a hood, wrapped bandages around forearm, and the occasional cloth over the lower face, and most of all, lack of a robe - he gave Vydraa a sure slap on the shoulders. "You have unknowingly done all of that. So clearly you take after your Mandalorian heritage, and in a way, I'm proud to have you has my padawan. A strong, willing, and smart individual who undoubtably has talent mixed with a formidable connection with the Force."

Vydraa couldn't help but smile and awkwardly looked away as he didn't know how to receive that kind of praise. His Master has given him small doses of praise but never like this. Then his thoughts turned to another question.

    "Another question Master...am I human?"

    Zven chuckled as he responded

"Here's another thing you can learn from the Mandalorians. Species don't matter to them, as Mandalorians aren't a race by blood, but rather by adoption and heritage. Because they are smart, each Mandalorian learns how to utilize the advantages they are born with. You could even say the same about the Jedi, we take in all kinds of species from every corner of the galaxy, and none of them are more superior than the other." Zven took a moment to let that thought sink in. "Whenever you want in your lifetime, your more than welcome to visit a specialist and have you DNA broken down to tell you what you are...but when it comes to Mandalorians and Jedi, it's about embracing who are you here" He taps the side of his head, "and here" and points to his heart. "rather than let your physical attributes determine who you are." Zven glanced at the nav computer to make sure the autopilot hadn't malfunctioned and turned back to Vydraa. "But that doesn't mean we don't use our physical attributes to the best of our abilities." He wagged a finger at Vydraa's all-blue eyes "You, young man, have quite a unique gift with those eyes. Use them right, and you can frighten your opponent, charm the ladies, lull the weak-minded into a false sense of hypnotism, and much much more."

Vydraa smiled with that thought. Ever since that moment, he never questioned himself. Yes he still had his questions about his Mandalorian heritage, but he knew he would find the answers to those questions in due time. Never again did those questions gnaw at his mind. He even learned how to utilize his all-blue eyes like his Master told him to do, but not surprisingly it came naturally to him as he grew older.

I will find you Master...I will...

Then the black lightning struck the planet.

At that moment, Vydraa experienced the ferocious flashes of dark side energy coming from the black lightning, and the world in his mind slowed down tremendously. In mid-step everything was moving in slow motion as Vydraa was mentally and physically shocked from the overpowering sensation of the darkside. Out of the corner of his eyes he saw Cain beside him, and his front foot began to near the ground. As soon as his front foot touched the ground, his bearing on time resumed and everything went back to real-time.

But still reeling from the shock from the tidal wave of dark energy, Vydraa failed to bring his other foot forward and

    *SLAM!*

he fell forward, slamming his body into the dusty ground, tumbled over himself a couple times before finally getting to grips with himself, drawing in the Force, and rolling himself back to his feet. Once he found his feet, he held his balance as he slid a couple meters and finally came to a stop. All of this happened within a mere second, but during that mid-step, it felt like forever.

What unfolded next, shook him to his core.

A skeletal legion rose from cracks that opened up on the planet surface. Vydraa, keeping a loose grip on reality, took it all in. He saw the immense diversity of species among the legion, the numerous tongues being spoken, and the exponentially growing size of the decaying army. If that wasn't enough to shake up Vydraa, he saw winged beasts rise from every part of the horde.

Worst of all, he couldn't feel any of it in the Force. It was a terrifying sight unfolding before him.

Vydraa found his hand hovering over his lightsaber and shook his head. He knew it'd be futile to make a stand. As he was about look for the rest of the padawans when something caught his eye. It was extremely brief and appeared to be a black leathery wing. He tried to make sense of it for a moment, but quickly brushed it off. After everything he just witnessed, it was probably paranoia playing mind games with him. Then from within his mind, and from the skies, a single voice rang throughout.

    "The ruins!

    Get to the ruins!"

Without wasting another moment, Vydraa turned and faced the direction of the padawans and with a Force augmented yell he ferociously screamed,

    "LET'S GO!! TO THE RUINS!!"

He didn't care if they had possibly heard the voices or not, he just reacted.

Turning back around to face the ruins, his mind snapped into to his 'act-now-watch-later' focus. Noticing the legion of skeletons already trying to close off their escape. He had plenty of faith in his fellow padawans to make it to the ruins but he had to be sure. Instantly he Force leapt to where the legion was trying to cut them off. While he was landing, he drew in as much of the Force he could draw. The moment he touched the ground, he extended his arms outward, and let all of the Force he drew, unleash. Not wasting a second to see if the blast did anything to push back the closing skeletal wall, he dug deep and Force sprinted with all of his might to the ruins.

The same ruins that were closing in only a moment ago, all of the sudden seemed so far away.

The wind was picking up as Kal hopped across the rocky surface of the planet, teeming with Dark Side energy he could feel wrapping itself around him. Thankfully the other Padawans were following, and he in turn had Vydraa and Cain in his sight, making good progress. He crossed his arms and held his flapping tunic tight, keeping his head up and focused on the ruins ahead.

Dare the thought crossed his mind, but for a while he felt quite at peace on the planet. The situation was dangerous to say the least, but surrounded by his fellow Padawans and their unified determination, and with a feeling of responsibility upon him to do his Master proud, he felt quite confident and safe.

Heading up a slight incline, the ruins were steadily getting closer. But getting closer also was, what looked like, a storm cloud appearing on the horizon at an alarming rate. It was nothing to cause concern to Kal, but it certainly felt omnious on such a planet as this, the rumbling of thunder echoed across the canyons and cliffs, passing through each Padawan making their way forward with each step.

Kal kept pressing on forward, hearing the other Padawans around him, giving him foc-

    *CRACK!!*

The lightning struck the ground ahead of Kal and the others, stopping him dead in his tracks. At that moment, he stumbled back a few steps, an invisible force hit him, pulling him slightly. He looked around and the others were still standing.

He froze and crouched to the floor, the weight resting on his left leg as if ready to leap into action. From just below, where he spotted Vydraa fall up ahead due to the crack of lightning, a sprawling mass of activity started to erupt from the planet surface, seemingly breathing and growing in mass. Kal's eyes narrowed to identify what it was, but he knew it couldn't be good. He could feel no presence yet again, just only what his eyes told him.

Swirling beings started to rise around Vyrdaa, Cain wasn't to be seen.

Kal took his lightsaber in hand but didn't move, as if waiting for the Force to guide him. It was then it almost did -

    "LET'S GO!! TO THE RUINS!!"

Vydraa's words struck him, passing through him and the others with the Force, empowering him to move.

Nodding to the others around him, Kal pushed away with his left leg, enhacing his speed and thumbing his lightsaber on with a snap-hiss of vibrant blue energy, ready to defend himself against whatever dark forces had risen up ahead and get to those ruins alive.

Walking toward the wait, scratch that, RUNNING LIKE A MADMAN TOWARD THE KORRIBAN RUINS

The padawans had been walking for what had seemed like ages, Vydraa at the head of the group, Cyril trying to stay inconspicuous in the center. Of course, that didn't last long.....

Black lightning crashed into the ground and a flash of dark side energy blasted through Cyril. Shutting his eyes in concentration, he threw up the mental defenses his master had taught him as more lightning thundered down and waves of darkness crashed against him. Then, just as abruptly as the lightning began, it ended. Cyril opened his eyes, only to be facing the sky once again, his back on the sand. He had focused so much on defending his mind that he had forgotten his body and it had fallen to the ground. Master Kyronus would have been disappointed.

Lifting himself up, Cyril spotted Vydraa roll to his feet and stare off into the distance. Back toward where the group had started their trek. Following Vydraa's gaze, Cyril took in the same terrifying sight that Vydraa was seeing. Time seemed to slow as Cyril tried to comprehend the enormity of what he was seeing. A skeletal army crawling, climbing, clambering, up and out of the fissures the lightning had rent into the ground. The beings were decaying, speaking many tongues, and they totally disproved Cyril's original theory. These things were definitely not the Yuuzhan Vong.

A mass of....things then began to arise out of the fissures behind the skeletal horde and in the teeming mass a black, leathery wing could be seen. But only for a moment. Then it disappeared as more creatures blocked it from sight. And none of them could be felt in the Force.....

All of this happened in a few moments, scarcely enough time to think. Then again, who could think when the sheer insanity of the situation boggled the mind? Thankfully, there was someone (or something, as the case may be) that was thinking.

    "The ruins!"

    "Get to the ruins!"

The voices brought time back to normal speed for Cyril. Just in time, it seemed, to hear Vydraa.

    "LET'S GO!! TO THE RUINS!!

Cyril gathered the Force into himself and took off, feet pounding the hard ground, head-tails fluttering behind him. A lightsaber snap-hissed to life nearby and Cyril saw Cain Force sprinting toward the ruins as well, lightsaber ignited. A sudden burst in the Force came from Vydraa's direction and then Vydraa was with them, running toward the ruins. The Force sang to Cyril with its use as the three padawans raced toward the ruins.......

Matters concerning those who did not flee towards the ruins shall have to be put aside for the time being, owing not to any particular biases in this record, but rather to practical considerations.
As the beings continued to swarm up, out of the grounds behind the Padawans, those who chose to run ran as fast as their feet could carry them. The odd obstacle to be traversed to the forward position was nothing compared to what was threatening the rear, and for obvious, fortunate reasons, they made excellent time.
Still, from the sounds - the dreadful, waterfall torrent of clattering bones, gnashing teeth, giggling, and arcane gibberish - it was plain the Fallen were right at their heels up until the very end.
Which is perhaps why Vydraa, Kal, and Cyril, who had taken up the advance position, may have been surprised by the sight that awaited them once they passed through the massive black stone archway that marked the passage into the underground.
    White sand.
    A warm, yellow sun.
The gentle lapping of waves upon the shore.
Even an apprentice Jedi, millennia removed from the Galactic Civil War, was not so shut in they did not recognize a beach when they saw it.
But why a beach? And whither the monstrosities that had only recently been hounding them?
Perhaps the answer lay with the hologram image that also appeared before them, which spoke thus:
    "Hello.
"I'm not a [untranslatable]. One moment."
It pressed a button on its power chair.
    "Hello.
"I'm not a Fallen. I'm a human, like some of you."
How would the Padawans react to this bizarre turn of events?
And why had the hologram paused as if it expected a response?
And just where had this beach come from?
    Read on.

And we're back! I apologize for the long delay, there really wasn't any other way to handle the situation.
Those of you who haven't posted in a while may want to respond before the update following, or there may be… interesting consequences. I'm trying to get an accurate gauge of how many players I still have.

    Irrak

Irrak pauses and feels his heart rate slow as the fight-or-flight response passes - not without incident, he notes - and he finds himself on a warm, sunny beach, listening to a hologram of a human speaking.

The pause continues and is shared by the hologram. Irrak speaks. "Those were Fallen? What is going on?"

Kal's breathing was steady, after a surge in Force speed to evade the nightmare around him...but now all he could hear was the sound of his lightsaber humming and the lapping of the waves in front of him.

He felt the other Padawans by him but didn't dare look behind him for fear of what was there. It was a surreal sight and so peaceful. But he knew it wasn't Korriban.

    Or was it?

The hologram speaking in front of them faded out in his mind, but he took in the final words- "I'm not a Fallen. I'm a human, like some of you."

He didn't want to feel as relaxed as he did, but the scenario in front of him was certianly peaceful, as peaceful as a meditation session in the Jedi Temple. Which meant it was probably a dark and dangerous image planted in their minds by the dark forces around them.

    Or was it?

"Can everyone else see this...the beach...the hologram?"

OOC: Apologies for DRL getting in my way of being involved here. I'm back now and this post backtracks a bit and then catches up.

    IC: Aress

The trandoshan was there among the other apprentices. She didn't speak much and was sometimes not as understood by humans when she did speak so instead she opted to let them argue things out while she settled herself in the force. She breathed the hot air of Korriban into her lungs and almost gagged. That was not the settling she expected. Trying again she breathed shallower and reached into herself to find the force. Korriban was a wasteland and there wasn't much life feeding into the feeling of the force. She briefly touched a few of the other apprentices, withdrawing quickly so as not to interfere. Finally she tried to see.

    Darkness. Emptiness. Darkness.

Aress had a gift for seeing and although she was young, she had worked hard to develop her gift. This time, however, she received nothing. With a sigh that sounded more like a hiss she came back to herself to notice the others getting more agitated. Something had happened while she was gone. She rose up in alarm as several padawans started running for the ruins. Aress's mouth dropped open in horror as she noticed what was emerging from the ground. She pushed her muscles with the force and ran after the others. Her long strides quickly helped her catch up and overtake a few.

She skidded to a halt, sand flying under her scaly feet. A beach. On Korriban? What was this? She tried with all her might to see through what she thought was a force illusion. But she couldn't. A voice interrupted her trials.

"I'm not a Fallen. I'm a human, like some of you."

Startled she noticed the hologram at last. Her master would've slapped her upside the head for not being observant. Aress was used to being a bit dreamier than others since her gift lay not in fighting, but in seeing. She was going to have to learn to be different if she was going to survive this experience.

"Can everyone else see this...the beach...the hologram?" Kal asked.

"I sssee it." She rasped. "But I don't believe it."

Aress took a tentative step towards the hologram and held her lightsaber out before her in a ready defensive stance. "What isss going on?"

    Korriban

Unlike the others, when Garrod felt the ground shake and the surge of Dark Side energy, he didn't bother to look behind the group. Considering that the last time the ground had shook it was a claw pulling something into the ground...looking back was equivalent to painting a target on his back. He may not have been moving fast before, but now, Garrod put every ounce of energy he had into sprinting for the ruins. He wasn't the first to arrive by any means though, so he didn't hear what the hologram on the beach had to say.

Wait...hologram? On a beach? On Korriban?

Just when he thought things couldn't get any odder too.

Apparently on a very pleasant beach

Cyril's mad dash into the ruins slowed to a short jog and finally came to a stop. He bent over, hands on his knees, gasping for air. Whatever those...things were, they would have to work hard to catch up to the Padawans that had made it to the relative shelter of the ruins, given that the Force had aided in their flight. Sweat dropped off Cyril's brow into the white sand and he wiped it away with the back of his hand.

Wait a minute....white sand? What happened to the red?

Standing erect, Cyril took a look a what should have been the interior of some fairly foreboding ruins. What he got instead was one of the most pleasantly disturbing sights he had ever seen.

They were on a beach. A beach.

A beach complete with a bright sun where darkness should be and endless water and sand in place of enclosing walls. Gazing out in wonder and confusion, Cyril started when the hologram activated.

    "Hello.
"I'm not a Fallen. I'm a human, like some of you."
Sithspawn, what is going on here?
The hologram paused noticeably, as if awaiting a response.
"Those were Fallen? What is going on?"
"Can everyone else see this...the beach...the hologram?"
Cyril turned to see Kal Dalton standing there, his lightsaber still lit, along with Irrak, the Gen'Dai padawan.
"I see it too Kal. This whole situation is growing more insane by the minute. First we wake up in the middle of nowhere under black suns, then a weird figure appears on the horizon, only to be taken into the ground by a massive claw. If that wasn't enough, lightning splits the ground open, an army of skeletons pour out along with some other malevolent creatures, and we are forced into running for the ruins. Only to find.....this. A pristine beach and a holo." Cyril held his arms up, gesturing toward the beach tableau that was before them, then he turned back to the hologram. "Of course, you're not simply a recording, are you?"

At last the ruins were finally coming to a close. Relief began to come over Vydraa as he continued his Force sprint into the entrance of the ruins
    And then...he was a on a beach
All of the sudden the ocean water was fast approaching and Vydraa cemented himself to the ground with the Force, but because they were on sand he slid a few feet before finally coming to a stop just before the wet sand. He stood there staring out into the vast ocean and found it...calming. It a was pleasant moment short lived as he heard a voice behind him.
    "Hello."
"I'm not a Fallen. I'm a human, like some of you."
Then the questions poured from his fellow padawans as he took a moment to organize his thoughts
Could this hologram finally give us answers? Was he the voice that spoke of safety in the ruins? Is this a ploy to get our guard down?
With that final thought he Vydraa drew in the Force to balance himself and be prepared for a surprise attack, kept his left hand hovering over his lightsaber while slowly making his way behind the hologram as he surveyed their surrounding. He saw nothing out of the ordinary but he refused to let himself get distracted.
"Of course, you're not simply a recording, are you?"
By the time Cyril finished with the question Vydraa was directly behind the hologram and facing the rest of the padawans. After sorting through the rest of his thoughts he decided on the question that has been on everyone's mind since they woke up.
    "Why are we here?"

    Somewhere on Korriban

Cain had run for the ruins when he saw the horde, forgetting all those around him and giving in to his baser instincts. He had forgotten a lot. The Padawans around him, the desert, the lack of resources. He had had forgotten all and ran for his life, apparently behind many of the other Padawans. He ran and ran and made it at the end of the bunch, only to find a beach with an ocean before him.

Were he not wearing boots, he might have marveled at the sand between his toes, but his mind and his gut told him the whole scenario was wrong. He heard a voice. It mentioned something of the Fallen and the voice not being one of them . Cain felt the comforting words too good to be true. On an alien planet with their masters missing, a strange voice attempting to comfort the group somehow made things more uncomfortable, at least for Cain. The other Padawans spoke up asking questions to a voice and Cain decided to interject between the voice and the group, attempting to cast doubt upon the whole scenario.

"What do you expect a recording to tell us? The truth? No, it will only tell us what it is programmed to tell us." Cain paused, sighing a little. "And that is only if it's a recording. What if it's something else? We don't know why we're in this situation and it would be foolish to trust the answers of some machine that we are not familiar with, or worse..." he said, trailing off.

    The hologram man smiled slightly.
"So many questions. That is good, that means you can still think. Sometimes I meet with individuals other than those I shall be working with, and..."
He straightened himself up in his power chair. "Well, I have to leave it at that. As to the first two inquiries, 'what is going on' is known as the Syngamy. It is a process by which the universe is periodically renewed. As of your arrival here, everything beyond this planet has [untranslatable]. One moment."
More button presses. "Has ceased to be. So it is from time to time with all universes, including this one.
"As to your next inquiry - I am not a hologram. Periodically, my form adjusts to make me more compatible with the planet chosen to host the Syngamy. I believe this is such an instance. That being said, many times I am known as Steven. I believe that name will still suffice. As for this beach -" he turned to look out at the ocean, "it is my chosen domain. It reminds me of home."
The hologram man's tone, which had been rather consistently neutral, seemed to falter on this last sentence, if only for a moment. "As for why you are here, you have been Selected. And as for whether you should trust me, you probably should not."

Felt like getting some responses up. An update, which will go up on Thursday, will have a 24 hour prior warning - at that time, if you have not replied to any of the Archive 02 updates, your character will be faced with... interesting things. "Has ceased to be. So it is from time to time with all universes, including this one."

*snort* yeah right, this is all a kriff-load of made up stuff. There's no way everything just ceases to be...even after all the millennias this universe has been through.

    Then the hologram spoke again

"I am not a hologram. Periodically, my form adjusts to make me more compatible with the planet chosen to host the Syngamy. I believe this is such an instance. That being said, many times I am known as Steven."

'I am not a hologram.' that thought held Vydraa's attention. So he could be a living being right before us...

But the last statement from this so-called Steven really caught his attention

"And as for whether you should trust me, you probably should not."

That was enough to set Vydraa off, and he Force-pulled his saber from the clip to his grasp and ignited it. In doing so, he also Force-leapt a bit closer to Steven, and extended his arm to have the point of his lightsaber barely less than an inch away from the back of the so-called hologram's neck.

"Then give us a good kriffing reason why we shouldn't kill you right now! For all we know you're lying to us."

He spoke with calm but strong tone and gave his classic menace stare. His blue eyes were always off-putting to others as he kept his arms raised and never faltered. He was sure Steven could feel the heat of the lightsaber on the back of his neck...if he was a living being.

If Steven was intimidated by the display, he did not betray such an emotion. Not once had his head moved to try and track the maneuver. Not once had his expression faltered. He simply continued to look forward, a slight smile on his lips, his eyes difficult to see behind thick spectacles.
From this distance Vydraa could see the well-tailored clothing the man wore, and the neat parting in his hair. If he were familiar with the old archives, the Padawan would have been somewhat - but not entirely - reminded of a military officer, circa the ancient First Galactic Civil War, though the man was obviously a civilian of some sort, if only judging by the use of a power chair.
"You could attempt to do so, if it would satisfy some pressing desire on your part, but prior research attempts on my part would tend to indicate such an exertion would be a wasteful expenditure. Though if your concerns would be assuaged by such an action, do not hesitate.
"It is somewhat curious - prior Selected were not this hostile at the outset. I wonder what sort of universe that will result in."

Cain's lightsaber hilt had found its way to his hand, but he resisted igniting it at Vydraa's display. He had to admit, though, part of him felt the same way.

"Then give us a good kriffing reason why we shouldn't kill you right now! For all we know you're lying to us."

"You are too bold, Vydraa! If this being can control the world we are in, then what makes you think you can threaten it?! I don't trust it either, but we must behave with more tact. If we play our cards right, we might even find our masters again, and they might have a solution to this madness!"

Cain hadn't realized it but his heart was racing. This was the first time he had felt such a crushing sense of doom, though not through the force but through his own reasoning faculties. Furthermore, the words from the being were chilling. It talked as if the galaxy was ending. As if this were the apocalypse or some sort of cataclysmic event that was unavoidable.

"What do you want from us? We are selected, so clearly we are selected for a specific purpose or task. What is that task or request and why should we bother to complete it?"

Vig was walking with the other Padawans who had decided to take the more cautious road, deciding to walk the path towards the ruins. He watched as the two padawans in front leapt from rock to rock, using the force to enhance thier speed. I have to give them credit, they are quite adapt at Force Running.

As he was watching them, he saw the sky open up as bolts of lightning struck the ground in the distance. A wave of dark side erergies slammed into him, almost bringing him to his knees. He heard the cries of his comrades, as they all saw what was coming from where the Lightning strikes were. It was skeletons, all of them speaking in diffrent languages. He could make out some Hutt, a little bit of basic, he even heard a voice or two in the mathmatical language of his homeworld. They poured out of the holes in the ground, and all of them could not be sensed in the force. There is some powerful evil at work here. To mask the presence of all of these creatures would take a being of countless power.

Vig's thoughts were intrupted by a voice telling them to go to the ruins. Seeing the horde of creatures rising up, some too stange to even describe, he decided to follow the padawans who had started running. The put his force energies into enhancing his speed. As a givin he didnt tire easily. Their lungs and blood vessles were much more efficient at storing oxygen in the lungs and distributing it through out the body. For a species that could live for days in vacuum they would have to be able to. He started to catch up with Vydraa and the others when he saw them enter the ruins. Following a few seconds behind, his slid into the ruins, his momentum carring him farther than he wanted. What he saw inside was not at all what he expected.

The cold stone that had surrounded the ruins transformed into sand as he passed through the archway. He could see and hear the ocean just a short distance away. Vig heard the waves crashing to shore. And not for from the edge of the waves sat what looked like a hologram of someone. He didnt know where it came from but he listened as it spoke to the other students. It talked about how it wasnt one of the creatures out there, he called them the Fallen. It answered a few of the questions posed by the padawans, implying that he wasnt a hologram and that the entire universe has ceased to be. What! The energy required to perform an act of violence so massive would take a billion sun crushers thousands of years. But I cant anything for granted. With those creature and the fact that something is shielding them in the force, it might not be implausable that they could end the universe. Thats if Vydraa doesnt get us killed first!

Aperently something that the person had said seemed to set Vydraa off as he ignighted his blade and held it to the back of the strangers neck. He acts more like a Sith than a Jedi. He is always so close to anger, I need to keep my eye on him. Then Cain spoke up to Vydraa to try to get him to calm down. "You are too bold, Vydraa! If this being can control the world we are in, then what makes you think you can threaten it?! I don't trust it either, but we must behave with more tact. If we play our cards right, we might even find our masters again, and they might have a solution to this madness!" He spoke up after Cain was finished, "Remember the code. What we need now is Peace, Knowledge and Serenity, not Emotion, Ignorance, and Passion. Korriban feeds your dark emotions. Now is the time when we must remember what we've been taught not throw it out when it becomes a hardship. Let us hear this man out, perhaps we can learn something of what is going on. If he shows himself to to be a threat I will be right there with you to defend ourselves." He hoped that Cain and himself had gotten through to Vydraa so he would calm down for a second so they could sort this all out.

Vydraa took a moment to to think, hearing out his comrades and not moving an inch from his original position.
    This could be a bluff...
And he gritted his teeth, as he badly wanted to inflict some minor pain to see if his bluff would hold. It was more so a sense of curiosity that was compelling him to do it, rather than doing it out of anger.
Cain and Vig do have a point about hearing him out...fierfek, I want to see if he is bluffing...
With a calm voice Vydraa finally spoke
Fine...but I'm not moving. You have a moment to explain this...madness...
At that moment an odd sense of familiarity struck Vydraa, but he couldn't place his finger on it. Regardless he maintained his raised arm and held the lightsaber in place, while steadying himself for a possible offensive move from Steven.

On a pleasant beach wishing there were more fems and less arguing....

While Cain and Vig were working on Calming Vydraa down, Cyril was mulling over what the hologram (holo-being?) had said, especially the last bit.

"It is somewhat curious - prior Selected were not this hostile at the outset. I wonder what sort of universe that will result in."

A theory began to piece itself together in Cyril's mind. It didn't explain everything, however. For that, the right questions had to be asked.

"Steven, if you don't mind,I have some questions for you that don't involve violence or death threats. To begin, what I'm understanding is that the Syngamy is a ceremony or ritual of some sort that takes place at the end of the universe as we know it. We are the Selected, persons who seem to be an important part of the Syngamy. From that last statement, I'm guessing the next universe is patterned on the Selected, including the selected faults and strengths. So my first question is this: am I correct in my understanding of what you have said? My second question is in regards to those things that chased us here. What were they and what is their purpose? Finally, and on a more personal note, where are our Masters?"

Steven folded his hands in his lap. "As all of your inquiries seem to be related, I shall concern myself with the Feeorin's questions, if that is suitable.

"To your first: that assessment of the situation is correct, though I am [untranslatable]. One moment." The sound of buttons being pressed but, oddly, without a visual accompaniment this time. "I am incapable of further elaboration. There may come a time when I will be able to more fully address the situation. That time is not now. It will depend on the course you Selected choose for yourselves.

"To your second: they are the Fallen. They are not a species in the traditional sense, so much as an idea. Or many ideas. The whole of the matter is complicated, I am incapable of further elaboration. They are the fault of… many. They exist for the reason you, or I, or anything exists. They are permitted free reign during the Syngamy. I have been led to understand it is vital to the process. I am incapable of further elaboration.

"To your third: they are within the Syngamy, and that is the whole of my knowledge. It is only a guess on my part, but based on what AJAX has told me it is possible they have made contact with [untranslatable]. One moment." Again, the sound of buttons being pressed with no accompanying movement. "With [untranslatable]."

    More button pressing. "[Untranslatable]."

    "[Untranslatable]."

    "[Untranslatable]."

If the situation perplexed Steven his unchanging expression did not bely that.

"Most curious. I am incapable of further elaboration."

"Most curious. I am incapable of further elaboration."

It was a bit saddening for Vydraa, as Steven looked somewhat...helpless. At the same time he was growing a bit frustrated as for every answer there were more questions coming about in his head. Even more so, Steven was limited in his ability to explain the questions throughly which left the questions almost unanswered.

If we really want answers, we're going to have continue with this...Syngamy process. But before that...

There's someone else isn't there? Controlling all this. That's why you can't seem to...translate what you're trying to say. Is this someone...AJAX?

Vydraa deactivated his lightsaber, and clipped it back to his belt. He walked back around to the otherside to rejoin with the padawans, standing next to Cyril.

And our Masters are a part of the Syngamy but...are they alive or dead?

This is a courtesy warning - the next update will go up either tomorrow or Friday Sunday, and if you have not replied to any Archive 02 posts by that time, well... things will happen the way they happen. In addition, if you want to post something prior to the next update, now is probably the time to do so.

    Irrak

The issue with threatening a hologram, it occurs to Irrak, is that it is supremely difficult to physically threaten a non-corporeal entity made entirely of light. When Steven states, categorically, that he is not a hologram, this only furthers the problem in Irrak's mind. Something that bears the outward appearance of a hologram and yet is not is, for all intents and purposes, a hologram - until new information is presented, at least. He does not comment on this, however, and instead notes Vydraa's quickness to anger (or rather, frustration) and files it away mentally for future reference.

The concept of existence based on idea fascinates Irrak, but before he can ask a question about that, he hears a name - Ajax.

"Have you examined our ship? Do you have knowledge of it? How do you know AJAX?"

A glint of remembrance came to his eyes as Irrak raised a question about something he had completely forgotten. "Have you examined our ship? Do you have knowledge of it? How do you know AJAX?" He remembered back to his time aboard the ship. The hyperdrive was named AJAX. I rarely had a use for it with my being able to calculate jumps in my head, but I remember there being a big humbug about it before we left. Something about it being the best hyperdrive ever made, some even said foolproof. "Is that what caused the crash?"

The Trandoshan had remained silent after her initial response that was acknowledged being transferred to a beach and seeing a hologram. She had intended to tackle Vydraa if the near-human had prompted further violence. The Jedi way was not to react with violence, but Vydraa seemed to have forgotten that. Aress filed this information away with the reminder to keep a closer eye on him. Thankfully for the often shy Aress two others stepped in to prevent the padawan from causing further harm to them all. Aress nodded respectfully to Cain and Vig. She figured on looking to them for leadership now that they were in a bizarre situation and their masters were missing. Others were asking questions of the hologram, but it appeared to not be able to tell them much continually repeating the phrase "untranslatable" to the point where Aress wanted people to stop asking questions that were useless and start trying to figure out a way off the beach.

Although, perhaps the beach wasn't so bad...
