I just checked out an official TMNT site. The new cartoon looks great. Back to the basics and a great animation style.

Can't wait till it comes out here. :D

So the Fraggles is a new show, Otter? Based on the old Muppet show? Jim Henson?

The Fraggles came out in the late eighties. It was a Jim Henson prodution but it didn't have anything to do with the original Muppets. It was set in a world underneath ours.

I'd say mid eighties, it was definately on when I was in Townsville which we left in the middle of '86.

You're probably right. It was around the time I was in grade 6. That would make it about '86- '87.

I only remember the Muppet show from repeats but that was more of a variety show, so Fraggles was an actual series with a story line?

It started in 1987 and went until 1996!

EDIT: I was talking about the Ninja Turtles and Nyder there is a Fraggle thread!

If we're still talkin' fraggles, I know for SURE it was on prior to '85, although it was on Qld regional TV before it was shown in Brisbane. It was shown in Gympie at the very least.

And officially, fraggle rock ran first-runs from '83-'87.

    We're talking Ninja Turtles

I was talking Fraggles, and I'm sure Neech was also..

You were talking turtles (rightly so, there is a Fraggle thread). Turtles aired much earlier in the States. We didn't get them until '89/'90. I'm pretty sure it was '90.

It was 1990. The first episode of TMNT we saw in Australia was the alien crash landing in the park and the turtles helping him out.

We didn't get the original four episodes until after the first season had already run and even then it was stitched together as a movie and shown in prime-time.

It was shown on a Saturday night around 6:30pm to cash in on the first movie's release.

The movie was definately '90. I went to see it after a geography field trip to Moreton Is, with Tricia Vanzetti. Ah yes, even as a young pup I impressed my dates with high brow cinema.

I remember that, I thought they were just repeating those eps though.
Are you sure they didn't air in their original format first?

I saw the first episode that aired and I'm pretty sure it wasn't the origin story (At least I think it wasn't, people kept calling me during it because they knew I liked the comics and they didn't want me to miss it. Oh, the irony. So I didn't actually see a lot of the episode).

The origin of the turtles was in the 'telemovie'. As per usual for Australian TV, the series actually started on the fifth episode.

I remember watching it from a doctor's office after school. I was getting an ultrasound done on my spleen.

    Good stuff! :D

What? Your spleen or the episode?
