Our Lucasfilm insider has chimed in once again with a very interesting tid bit. It seems more likely that Revenge of the Sith, the last of the Star Wars feature films will be rated PG-13. It seems that George is open to having the last of the prequels break from tradition and be the first of the Star Wars films to not have a PG rating.

George in the past has always said that Star Wars films were catered to kids but acknowledges that to make ROTS PG would take away from the story and wouldn't be convincing to movie goers. It will be darkest of the series and we will see plenty of deaths unlike any of the previous films. George also recently spoke about the MPAA rating with MTV, " All the good guys die," he said, laughing. "And you know, it's pretty dark. It's pretty intense. I'm not sure this one is going to end up a PG like the others were."

We have also been told the departure from a PG rating is also a sign of things to come on the future TV series. The live action TV series will be catered to adults and not to children. Lucasfilm is planning for more of a drama with great special effects then a wam bam sci-fi action TV show. It will be more character driven then any of the previous films, but that George does not want Star Trek style series.

Nothing to do with TV and unsubstantiated rumor.

I always wanted these films to not be constrained to the rating system . . . "Empire" is emotionally dark. The most people die in "Jedi" (when the Death Star II blows up). But "ROTS" should be the most graphically violent. "AOTC" is fairly dark, showing Anakin's hate for the ol' Tuskens, but it was some how too short. A lot can be done with a PG-13 rating. I am most excited for the onscreen Jedi hunt.
