I agree with you about there should be a male lead just for the sake of the theme of fathers and sons.

 

"A group of teenage girls" is basically exactly how I saw all six Star Wars movies. If you really think women aren't playing video games, you really need to pay more attention.

This forum was around way longer than February of 2013, my friend, It's been here since the late 90s, and it's been populated by plenty of women.

So wait, by that logic, those women must be more passionate about Star Wars than you.

Why don't you take a look at the little list of moderators at the top right-hand corner of the page and then get back to us on that?

 

While I would agree that there are a great number of female fans, I would also say that there is an excellent chance there are more males than females overall. I seriously doubt it is around 50/50 (as an earlier poster claimed). Although I am willing to admit that I could be wrong.

You need to open your eyes and mind, OP. I'm OLD and female: I own (bought 'em myself) the VHS, SE on VHS, DVD and now blurays. Have a lot of the books & comics, some of the "toys" - oh, you got me, I'm not into ANY games so I have no games. Saw ANH and ROTS in the movies like 20 times each (granted, in college with the town having only one theater, ANH was very easy to see multiple times).

We females are under no obligation to present ourselves to you as a "count" but there are plenty of women involved in SW.

*IF* you really are speaking of mass merchandise marketing (which doesn't seem likely), it is possible that more money is spent on behalf of boys, but nowhere to the degree I think you're claiming. For all you know, Disney bought Star Wars to bring in more female viewers/purchasers.

Gosh knows, when I got the dolls and all and my brother got the Lincoln logs and Legos, I wanted to play with "his stuff" just as much as my own. I was embarrassed, but daring enough, to check out "The Boys Sherlock Holmes" from the library, half fearing they'd deny a girl the chance to read the book.

If you let "it's been that way" dominate what "is possible" - you're limiting a lot of possibilities.
