    lol ?!
I laughed at this thread. LoooL

    I have a question:

Aayla Secura (without the Force) vs. B'Elanna Torres in a swordfight
    Who would win ?

    Answer: No one.

Reason: Both of them are powerful swordmasters, Aayla lightsabermaster and B'Elanna...her Bat'Leth skills are so incredible !!!

Lightsaber cuts through batleth. Then, it cuts through B'Elanna's skull. Fight over.

Now aayla vs Seven in mud wrestling... =P~ [face_love]

    Star Wars wins.

    Chewie > Worf

    Obi-Wan > Spock

    Ackbar > Kirk

    21B < Bones

    Vader > Khan

    But...

    Picard > all.

Which negates the argument. Neither wins; only Picard.

I'm a fan of both Star Wars and Trek. Star Wars is better by a long shot. But Star Wars and Stargate would be a bit closer, but Star Wars would emerge victorious.

I always thought it was a moot argument, considering the overwhelming disparity between the amount of "screen" Trek and SW. How could you compare three films (I'm talking about before the PT, around '96) against 8 films, four series with all of those episodes. Sure there were clunkers, but with all of that footage to choose from there was so much quality. Now with the PT and the coming TV series' I think it might balance out a bit. But until then I must go with Trek. People tend to forget how much ground that first series broke, (minority characters, interracial kiss, Russian on the bridge, social and political commentary disguised as harmless sci-fi) and that continued on TNG and to a lesser extent DS9.

Yea, like the girl on girl kiss on some episode of ds9. I remember watching it with my dad in the room at the time and it was very awkward, as I was fairly young, around 11-12 probably.

This is like comparing Braveheart with Lord of the Rings. They're too different to measure. Anyway, Star Wars has great movies and crappy TV shows, Star Trek is the opposite!

I don't know if Star Trek is completely the opposite. Enterprise sucked but some of the movies like The Voyage Home and First Contact in my opinion are some of the greatest Sci-Fi movies to be made. Definetely agree on how the Star Wars TV shows are crappy though. Ewoks and Droids sucked and so did the Ewok Adventures TV movies, but hopefully the Live-Action series will redeem it.

For the most part, I don't look at the TNG films as films. I see them as extra episodes of the TV series. I know that doesn't speak well of their theatrical merits, but I know that if I settle down to watch one and just pretend it's a regular two part episode of the TV show, everthing just works. TNG never really crossed onto the big screen in the same way Kirk & Co managed (probably because Kirk & Co had a long long gap between their small and big screen adventures).

At least three and perhaps four of your points can be countered with the utterance of a single word: Defiant. But that's probably already been pointed out.

For the record, I don't watch any of them pretty much, but as far as books/comics/games go, Star Wars all the way. :p

I always loved the Cardassian battleships that had the huge beam weapon on the front. DS9 was the best TV show, ever!

but who is more fanatic ? SW fans or ST fans?

SW probably has the bigger franchise, but ST has the bigger content and depth.

I agree with those above who say it's difficult to compare the two.

You'll find fanatics in both camps, and some fanatics with seats in both camps.

malkieD2: but who is more fanatic ? SW fans or ST fans?

When the original ST series faced cancellation, some ST fans mounted a huge write-in campaign to the Powers That Be. When Vector Prime came out, some SW fans actually sent death threats to R. A. Salvatore.

It's a good thing people know better than to make broad generalizations based on the actions of a few, or else I'd be worried. [face_plain]
