Hey all, Dex1138 over at the Orlando boards has created these badges for anyone wanting a way to ID their group at SWW. I'd be happy to customize any for the members of our group :)

Hey all, this is from over at the Melbourne boards:

To anyone going to SWW this Saturday, May 17, we're planning on meeting members from other FanForces at 10am at the Backlot Express in MGM. Everyone's welcome to come for this. Dex1138 has some badges you can download here so we can recognize other FanForcers.

    Hi BeachTroopers,

As BlastyTrooper has said, there will be four R2-Detroiters at WDW for Fan Club weekend. Three will be marching both Sat. and Sun. while I take pictures. We need to think about a good meeting place.

For those of you going this weekend, maybe you could do some recon for a good vantage to stake out for Parade picture taking? And somewhere to meet after that? I'll be flying in on Saturday morning and if I make it for the Parade, it will be VERY tight. If you all had a spot on the route, I could join up with you.

There will also be three R2 folks there this weekend, but I don't think Jayna knows them, so she won't recognize them.

Hope you all have fun! Looking forward to your reports of the festivities!

    Regards,
    M.

I'll keep my eye out for some good spots!

It's going to be a blasty good time. I've been wanting to go to Star Wars Weekends for a long time now.

I might not know the R2 Detroiters going this weekend, but it would be a great time to meet them! MTH- if you could let them know about the meeting this Saturday at 10am at the Backlot Express in MGM, I'm sure they are more than welcome to join in the FanForce festivities. :)

Jayna - The R2 folks coming had already left for Florida when I saw you message.

One of them (Joan) will be marching as an Imperial Officer and, we think, carrying the 501st banner in the parade. Her husband, Keven, usually dresses as Darth Vader, but MGM has their own, so he is going to be taking pictures and watching their 2 year old son. Anyway, he's hard to miss since he's 6'4" and thin. You might see him around. He's hard not to notice and a heck of a nice guy!

    Regards,
    M.

    3 more weeks!!

I'm going to be occupied most of Saturday, so I won't be able to :_| Let me know if y'all will be getting back in time for the Matrix though; I managed (it was a little TOO easy...) to convince Mindy to take a break from her moving and sorting so she can go see it

I'll call ya when we leave the park so you know. It'd be great to see Mindy before she heads out of town.

Did you guys n gals make it this weekend? I shot over there on Friday after a last-minute decision to skip out on work. I was bummed that neither Anthony Daniels nor Billy Dee Williams (BILLY DEE! BILLY DEE! BILLY DEE!) was signing personal items, just picture cards. Oh well. But it was still fun.
Depending if I can play hookey again I'll go this Friday too, if not, Sunday...on Saturday the hubby is testing for his black belt so I should be there to show some support, or something....

I arrived at 9am on Friday, because I knew the autograph lines would be long. I got into the Anthony Daniels line. Wristbands were given out for both signings, and for Billy Dee Williams too. One signing at 10:30, the other at 3. So even though I was there at park opening, I was far back in line enough to get a wristband for the 3pm signing. If you had more than one person in line you could've gotten a wristband for both actors by splitting your party up, but for some of us who were by themselves had to choose between the two.
Also, we were informed that both actors would not be signing personal items, only the Disney-supplied photo cards.
After getting the wristband I went to Tatooine Traders, which was a mob scene. The line for pins stretched around the Star Tours ride building. The line inside for other merchandise looped several times around itself. Having some time to kill I picked up some items and waiting in line for an hour before reaching the cash registers.
Anyway. I went to the Star Wars edition of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire, which was very well done. The first contestant admitted she'd never even seen Star Wars, and was eliminated on the fourth question, after using up her 3 lifelines (Ask the Jedi Council, 50/50, Phone a Stormtrooper). The second contestant was a fan and did very well before bowing out on the 125,000-point question ('According to the song, what do you get a Wookie for Christmas if he already has a comb?')
The beginning questions were super easy ('what is the traditional weapon of the Jedi?'), the middle questions reasonable ('How is the Queen of Naboo chosen?' 'How many Rebel fighters escorted each ship off of Hoth?') and the ending questions difficult (see above).
I walked around some more to catch a glimpse of the costumed characters, including new ones like Shaak Ti and Mace Windu (whom, I might add, was portrayed by a very convincing park employee). There were various Stormtroopers scattered around, poking their noses into park visitor's business, keeping the peace. And a few pickpocketing Jawa's.
I didn't stay all day as I needed to get back into town to see The Matrix: Reloaded, so I can't report on the Cantina Band party in the evening.

Hello from Boston! I have some pics of the event up at my site. If anyone has pics of their own to share, that'd be great!

    I love the pics!

Unfortunately, when my friend borrowed a camera for us to take, he forgot to grab the charging batteries. No pictures for us! :(

I now have access to a digital camera from the library so I'll bring it along this weekend. I also have plenty of batteries ;)

Are we going to meet here and commute or meet over there or what?
