BTW, JJJ today is your one-year anniversary for being on the JC.

Also, what thread in the CT forum are you referring to?

I'm guessing JJJ was talking about the most recent Starbucks thread in the CT forum, Toshi.

Well, I couldn't resist anymore and I had to see what went on in the Starbucks line. It came highly recommended. How is everyone this fine February morning?

It tends to be a little dull here in the morning. Not too much activity.

    See ya

BTW, when I was reading the old "Starbucks" stuff, I went through some really old threads (circa 1998-99) and I sure miss the old UBB setup we had. It was much simpler.

    :(

Welcome to Starbucks DarthSapient! :) Pull up a chair and order your favorite hot beverage! :)

Lisa, was it really? Cool. :D

Oh DarthSapient, you are not the only one who has not seen the UBB boards. I've just heard about them too.

If you want to see the old system, just click on the "Archives" button above and choose a forum(I like "Community" and "SW").

Regarding the old system, the only info on any message was your user name and your message. No other garbage. I, for one, don't care for the icons nor the signature. For me, those items clutter the screen.

I remember the old UBB days very vaguely. That was back when I first started lurking around here. Back when double posting was much easier to do, and that, combined with my old junk modem produced a lot of triple- and even a few quadruple-posts.

Hi, Ben, Toshi, Sapient, and Lil_Lisa, whom I've not spoken to before. And hello again to JJJ and Jade.

    For your viewing pleasure ...

Each year the Washington Post's Style Invitational asks readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition. Here are the 2001 winners:

Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.

Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.

Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid.

Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

Noculate: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.

    Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.

Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)

Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's, like, a serious bummer.

Glibido: All talk and no action.

Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

And, the pick of the literature:

Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an *******.

    JJJ, Happy Anniversary!

Cal, those are HYSTERICAL! I might have to start using some of them. I looked up the SIC code today and you're right. The one you picked out was the best one. We'd have to adapt it from "Deep Sea" to "Deep Space" and we'd be all set.

Welcome DarthSapient. Pull up a chair, grab your favorite drink, and join the conversation.

I love the Olympics. I totally admit that I'm an Olympic junkie. I want to see the more obsure stuff. Don't give me any of the profile stuff, just give me the sports and lots of it. I hate it when they saturate all the coverage with schlocky profiles. Ick. During the Sydney Olympics we were BEGGING for a satellite link to the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) so that we could get "real Olympic coverage". I do love figure skating but I also want to see the Women's bobsledding (first time ever!), luge, cross country/skeet (which is actually really fascinating), hockey (men's and women's) and heck, I'd even be happy to watch curling if they would show it. Nooooo, I'll bet good money right now that more than half the time will be spent on those @#%* profiles. Grrrrrr.

During the Sydney Olympics I sent scathing emails to ABC every day on their "comment" page. Everyone else must have too because by day 3 the page had been disabled and you couldn't send anything. lol.

Wow, thanks for the very warm welcome everyone. I have to admit that the majority of my posts are in the spoiler section for AOTC and Episode III. But Commander Antilles has finally convinced me to take a look in here. Now I see why.

I'm also totally excited about the Olympics. And I'm also glad the IOC decided to change the format where an Olympics would be every two years instead of four. Speaking of obscure events, I have to admit there have always been two winter Olympic sports that I love more than any other events. I love to watch curling and the biathalon. It's shuffleboard on ice and James Bond on skis.

Ben..I'm mostly an ice skating junikie..

the last winter olympics while i was proud of the US taking gold and silver..i was furious that Tara-i'm soo cool even though i'm younger then anyone else who has worked harder then me and now i get to be in movies and tv shows b/c i'm cool-lipinski wone over Michelle Kwan's far superior performance...

but that's just me (i'm sorry i really can't stand TL its a thing that i can't really explain)...

hmm...there are a few other sports..the jumps are pretty cool, but b/c i'm here and they're in teh US i'll be able to watch more than usual (mostly b/c when they were on in ATlanta i was in India)

DarthSapient..Welcome to starbucks..I didn't know the IOC changed the rule recently i thought for the last 8 or so years it was an alternation of winter and summer games...:)

    rock on guys
    see ya in a bit

As far as I understand, it still alternates winter and then summer Olympics. But somewhere back in the late 80's/early 90's, the format was changed. It used to be that both the winter and summer Olmpics took place in the same year. I believe the summer Olmpics had two years between two consecutive Olmpics one time. There are now still four years between each winter and each summer Olmpics. But the total time between any one of those two Olmpics is now two years instead of four years. In other words, I believe the next summer Olympics will be in 2004.
