Social Starry Night Café - The Art Lounge III

After a fresh coat of paint and renovations, I think it is time to reopen the Artist Lounge!

Would love to give you all a walkthrough of the Starry Night Café though I will let someone else take the honours:

Come on in, doors are open to all. A place for everyone to hang out, have a drink, draw and discuss anything and everything to your hearts content… as long as it is respects the TOS of the boards of course.

 

As long as there aren't any Dinos that are going to eat me, I'm thrilled!

 

We keep the dangerous ones on a different island. Safety first, we've spared no expense.

Anything I may get you to eat or drink?

 

I'll have a cup of shaak tea. :b

 

Some blue milk? I like mine ice cold.

Hmm… I might have a Blue Milk too.

With Solo opening in less than a week, is everyone looking forward to seeing it?

I'm pretty much looking forward to it. My fiancee is even more excited, and won't stop watching the trailer. Haha
We saw the trailer for the millionth time when we went to see Infinity Wars and at the one part where Chewbacca almost looks like he's gonna find his demise in the rock face of the mountain, I lean over and whisper:

"Spoiler alert! Chewie doesn't die!"

I legit thought he was gonna pee himself he was laughing so hard.

Come to think of it, it does look a little like Indiana Jones where he's hanging by the side of the tank and the rocks.

I'm keen on seeing it and the footage shown does look fun. I do like Alden Enhrenreich in Hail, Caesar! and Donald Glover looks great as Lando and love that walkthrough of the Falcon. I think I might be going opening night, just working out the details.

My excitement levels are caught between Solo, Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and I'm glad they are close together but just enough room to breathe. A lot of inspiration for drawing but trying to decide which though best to finish what I'm working on first.

I don't think I'll see Solo in theatres, but I'll probably watch it if/when it goes to Netflix. From what I hear, Chewie and Lando particularly shine in it, which is good enough reason for me to watch.

I'm also looking forward to Incredibles 2. I admit some stuff in the trailers looks kinda "meh", but a sequel has been such a long time coming, and the original is my favorite Pixar film, so I can't help but look forward to it.

The original Incredibles film is still my favourite Pixar film as well and we've been waiting for almost 15 years for a follow up. I've only saw the first trailer for this one and not looking at the newer ones so I guess I am semi spoiler free for that. It won't be long now before we get to see it though.

 

I hope those who got to see Solo had a great time. I certainly did and had fun. I'll keep it at that to avoid spoilers.

May is almost over and I only just learnt about Mer-may, that would have been fun to do. There is Jurassic June coming up though.

 

I hope everyone is going well. Just helping myself to some salted caramel ice cream for dessert.

Did anyone get up to anything exciting? I did get to see Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom and enjoyed that a lot and also loved Incredibles 2. Art production has slowed down a bit but slowly making progress on one of the pieces (WIP as seen in my avatar).

 

^Haven't seen either, I don't really go to theatres thesedays, but I do hope Incredibles 2 and Solo come to Netflix sometime this year.

Why is this place so dead, we need more artists!

 

I do have art on the way, though apart from some of the banners that you see about the forums, none of them are ready to be showcased just yet.

 

Does anyone have suggestions for a good drawing monitor that is around $300? I'm trying to get one, but don't have a ton of money, and was wondering if any of you can recommend something. Thanks!

 

Prices vary depending on region. I asked a few questions relating to which type you are looking for over in the resource thread. There are tablet devices too that have art related apps as an alternative to having one hooked up to the comp. What I use is the Wacom Intuos Pro.

This place does need a few more decorations... a new banner for sure. How about some cross forum fun too?

I think you've been doing an amazing job curating the Pyke Gallery I do find the Pykes design to be quite neat. It is great to see that they are starting to make more of a presence in the galaxy with more about their Syndicate and a live action appearance.

That is a good question. Hmmmm…. Dash Rendar is an old favourite of mine. At least the model of his ship makes quite a few appearances.

The Pykes have kinda exotic anatomy, and are not the easiest characters to draw.
