What old & new ones would you like to see in Episode VIII?
Starships for the New Republic, Resistance, First Order and other possible factions.

Y-Wings and B-Wings would be a good start ...

 

Upgraded Y-Wings and B-Wings would be interesting but they'll not be with the Resistance because all you see on D'Qar is all they have. The New Republic are supposed to have a considerable fleet so may be now they've been brought directly into the conflict we may see some old favourites.

 

I'd like to see some new ships thanks. Maybe some big cruisers based on the Mon Cal cruisers and a few familiar ships here and there, but primarily new ones. MSW kept leaking descriptions of all the awesome new starfighters we were going to see here and we ended up with exactly the same ones we'd seen before but with slight variations. If you actually think about it we saw very few ships in this film. This Incredible Cross-Sections book had fewer ships than any other and that's with the Falcon and two ships we never see in action. It's time to correct that.

 

BBBs - Big Badass Battleships. I want to see what new types of large, powerful warships the republic is producing, maybe something along the corellian design lineage like upscaled versions of the blockade runners.

I also want more FO star destroyers, maybe some smaller destroyers to support the two-kilometre ones we see in TFA.

And of course, new fighters like the designs MSA described. Maybe even a whole new model of X-wing, a T-75 if you will, since the ones used by the Resistance already look pretty beaten up and outdated. They might have been replaced in the republic's fleet by a more up to date design already.

 

Update the A-wing. They can even use the original McQuarrie sketches of the A, just like they used his early X-wing sketches for the T=70.

 

E-Wing and V-wings would be fun additions, as would some NEW ships for the wing family.

 

I'd like to see this X variant updated as a T-70.

 

The First Order really need a large sphere shaped super weapon that will enable them to annihilate entire planets from a long distance. That would be a bold new direction.

 

The Finalizer is badass, but I would like to see more Star Destroyers. And some New Republic capital ships.

 

Always had a soft spot for this one:

 

A new Super Star Destroyer. It has always been my favorite and it would be awesome to see one in the style of The Finalizer.

The biggest change from this concept to the shooting model is the fins that run vertically though the exhaust stream, instead of the circular guide vanes that we saw onscreen:



The weapons are different too, also different scoops and vents.

 

New ships. It's been thirty years, less than the time between ROTS and ANH. They don't have to all be completely new, they can be rehashed versions of previous ships ie Palpatines shuttle in ROTS.

 

That design has already been pilfered by Rebels, I'm afraid.

I think the V-wing from the unused concept art would make a good successor to the A-wing if they kept developing that design a little.

I would like to see the TIE Defender, or any TIE variant in Ep. VIII for that matter. As far as resistance ships go I would like to see the successors to the A, B and Y wings. It would also be awesome to see Repulbic/Resistance capital ships like advanced versions of the Mon Cal cruisers seen in Jedi.

the Y-wing needs an upgarde, they were old by the time of ANH

 

Nebula-class Star Destroyers for the New Republic always looked unique and new to me, but kept the Star Wars aesthetic.

 

The "Before the Awakening" book mentioned the Republic Navy having T-85 X-Wings, but the ones in the TFA were the T-70s. I wonder if the 85s will show up in 8.

 

Hopefully many new ship designs, since TFA had very few that were really new.

 

I came here (and clicked "Watch Thread") to say just that!

 

In a homage to Vader in TESB, Kylo Ren's fleet could include a Super-Star Destroyer, 5 Star destroyers, 6 Battle Cruisers and a number of Escort Frigate's. All being buzzed about by TIE fighters, TIE Special Forces Fighters, new TIE Bombers and shuttle craft. Scale is the key to EpVIII....

 

We urgently need new starship designs in ep.VIII IX.
Ι love the old ones but i'd love some new ideas as well.
