Well, as soon as we wipe out the nati,
the next is Detroit, and with that in mind,
I have had these updates in a previous post
    on this thread,

    8-27-07 Detroit 6603
    9-24-07 Detroit 5748
    11-07-07 Detroit 5417

and so, a little time has gone by,
and I thought you guys might like
    another update....but, let us NOT
start a thread for Detroit until,
    the nati are defeated:)

    02-20-2008 Detroit 4625 away.....

and just a little color for the big X

Boy Detroit is in trouble again. Once a shinning example of what's right in this country. Now a beacon of despair. And to think now they are going to lose a spot in the post count.

Ref Detroit, tho they still seem to be loosing gound to South Bend,
they have been more active and are trying to get something going again,
    including regular meetings.

    For now, I suspect this,

Chicago seems to be the only fan force that is still making it. Probably Evansville also. We are eaking along, but the kid factor is slowing us down.

    ref Chicago,

One item they are strong in is their most excellent book club.

I get a chance to attend this a couple of times a year,
and really wish I had more time for it.

Last Saterday, they met for 2-hours in a down town book store,
and throughly discuss the current book that is on their
    reading list.

The key for them is a very strong book club leader (also a teacher)
The discussion covers a wide range of perspectives and often
we seem to run out of time.

There were 11 of us last saturday, and after there was a lunch,
and HOTH ice skating (I could not stay long enough to skate)

ok, enough about Chicago, and now back to un-scheduled stats!

I think a lot of the friendships between the Chicago "regulars" go back to at least 1999 (The Phantom Menace line-up), although the same could probably be said for most of theforce.net's more popular boards. Chicago benefits by having an active club off the boards, with several social events throughout the year to help bring people together in person.

I visit their board frequently and post occasionally, but one key to their strength is those original connections. A couple of the most active contributors to their board live far outside the area now (Florida, Texas, and even Utah, I believe) but still post regularly. Compare that to you poor souls - you're stuck with one clingy loser from South Dakota. :-B

Just a quick re-affirmantion by me on my deep ties to South Dakota,

I even have parts of Wind Cave named after me:)

and for fanforces that are still going STRONG,

South Bend is still about 195,000 behind Denver[face_laugh]

and might just be falling further behind as I post this....

    MusicTrooper,

I recall trading a couple posts a few months ago about our shared geography. I haven't been out to Wind Cave since that time, but hope to get there soon and say...hey, I "know" that guy.... :D

    Wind Cave, is a CAVE[face_laugh]

    located in.......ready.......Wind Cave National Park,

a little South of Rapid City, South Dakota,

here is a link, explaining, parts of the cave that have names begining with P

    http://www.wind.cave.national-park.com/nmp.htm

scroll down until you find, PEEK-IN PIT:D

    also,

There is a WIND study of WIND cave, which suggests that it has the
potential to be longest cave in world.
    but,
the Mamouth/Flint Ridge system in KY, is still the winner there,
    at around 200? miles

    ps, sorry to hi-hack thread....

    so, any stats are ok?

    Wind Cave____about 125 miles
    Mamouth system about 350 miles

both caves are still increasing in size due to continued surveying.

Not sure how this might fit into STATS,

    or

    Whether it is trivia,

But, Tomorrow is the 29-th of February,
    which

only occurs every four years (not including certain exception years like 2000)

and so, what made me notice this was looking at my pay check today,

and I noticed that there were no deductions for things like dental-medical-vision,

and I went, of course, this is the 5-th Friday of the month, and I get paid on Friday!

    THEN

I thought, Gee, this is unusual, and the more I thought about it, the more unusual
it seemed to be, and I began to wonder when this would happen again,

Well, I am going to have to wait until__2037__!!!!!!!

Thank goodness for on line perpetual calenders,

last time was 1979, so, sorry, no major STAR WARS connection there:-B [face_coffee]

Love the cave information. I can't wait till my boys are older to start doing some hicking and hitting things like Mammoth Cave and Wind Cave. For my 10th anniversary my wife and I went to Rocky Mountain National Park, absolutely great trip.

Sorry to be a little late on this,

but, praise to the big X, for starting the stats,

I am only off by about 8-days, but this is the,

Happy One Year anniversary of the above numbers,

and look at how many South Bend has past and
how much South Bend has caught up to others,
while still others, like Cleveland are not
even on the Midwest display any more.

    Way to go X=D= [face_dancing]

Well, almost 6-months since the last post,
would make it seem like an update on some stats to be ok,

tho, I have yet to see new ones,

    but for now,

South Bend is behind others as follows,

    Chicago,_____34,347
    St Louis______17,028
    Minneapolis___16,188
    INDY_________13,549

versus about one year ago, in my 8-13-07 post which showed,

    Chicago______34,655
    Minneapolis___19,402
    St Louis______19,181
    INDY_________16,805

NOTE: I did not include Detroit....they have their own thread on these boards,
    and
I did not include Cleveland, as they are on the inactive boards.(am unsure how to get them off of that?)

also, I have been visiting the Detroit boards to try and encourage them to
post enough to make friends and have fun, and not get put onto inactive status.

Well, that is it for now.

Still looking like South Bend, will be one of the last places left,
where Star Wars fans stay in contact with real fans in their local
community as well as with cyber-communities.

Likewise, no offense taken, MT. I am happy to help mercsailor bring down the post average around here. [face_laugh]

My relatively low total post count is due to the fact that I was basically not active on the boards from 2004-2007. Still, I will never approach any of your post counts (although I might one day pass VIO if he never comes back). :_|
