Ahhh, thank you Jazib. I just maximized my window and they appeared all squashed up like that. If it's any smaller than maximized window size they get covered by the mods' names.

Yeah, it looks like they'll show up depending on what your window size or resolution is. But as you said the problem is that there are too many moderators listed.

 

So I guess the real question has become: When is the decision about the new pared down mod team for the combined community forum finally going to be made? Because the unreasonably high number of moderators is apparently affecting my browsing efficiency.

 

It would make sense to remove the mod names and "post new thread" button from the bottom, I think. It makes more sense to have room for page numbers at the bottom than it does to have mod names in two places.

 

It's kind of a tricky situation - the rationale behind the moderator list was that visibility was needed in Ep7, since that's a hodgepodge of cross-promotions (Ohai), which then means it has to be on for every board, and since the list of moderators for Community is so large, we start getting issues.

I'm honestly not sure if the plug-in is sophisticated enough to allow the admins to turn off the lower display list, and I definitely know the lower post thread button can't be removed without some seriously hefty source code wrangling. So... yeah. Ideally the lower listing can be turned off (Seriously, what's the point?) but I just don't know.

 

So... the IGN system was more sophisticated than this one?

 

It's closer to the IGN system was really good at what it did, but lacked customization, whereas this has lots of customization, but those customizations are kind of a gamble. Xenforo also has issues where it's been optimized for lower activity levels, but that's a whole 'nother tirade.

 

Can it still not handle banner changes?

 

Not at the scale we would need it to handle to restore every old banner, no. The actual software development guys have been getting an earful from large boards such as ourselves and IGN about these memory handling... eccentricities... so they might be moving to fix it eventually, or Grimby might try to jerry-rig something. At the moment our priority has been getting the boards to stay functioning during high traffic.

yeah i could utilize several of those i guess, but do you at least have like a water fountain down the hall in your apartment building? that would do fine as a bidet substitute.
