    Thanks. Spray paint in the back yard, an olive green, brown, and a tiny bit of regular green (didn't like the look of that color really). The fabric is just cheap, 60" muslin. Cut a slit into the poncho about where I wanted it to sit and just sewed a huge hood in. I need to hem it all up still and cover up some stitching on the hood, but it's all but done now :)

    Dajuan,
    Do you know the first biker scout (on the left)? Is he/she 501st? Just curious...

    Not personally, but I'll ask the Des Moines people if they do. I think he was 501st though.

    Cool pics!
    OMG! That little stormtrooper was the cutest thing ever. Was it a boy or girl and do you know how old they were?

    That poncho does look good. I was planning to do the same thing to make things alot easier on Susan and I.

    As for your helmet, that won't be a problem. If you can get the helmet to me with a design idea in mind I can work on it. There are also some good looking sets of stickers out there that will add to the look as well.

    It was a girl, but I don't know how old. Like 7 or 8?

    Thanks Brandon, I'll start researching some :)

    Alrighty, I'm putting a big "DONE" stamp on my brocade jacket for my Kaylee costume. Yay!!

    Yeah, I know that's only a small part of it all, but I'm still happy. :D

    The white mushroom costume I made my ex-girlfriend for Halloween won a prize for "Best use of a hula hoop" at Naka Con this weekend. I'm not sure that that was really a category, but apparently, the judges decided they had to invent a new one just for us.

    Jon, my kids saw the picture and LOVED the costume. They just kept laughing and my daughter was like, "oooooh its so cute." Of course they all knew what it was, me...not so much.

    Well, I'm about 60% done with my Visas Marr, and felt like taking some pics...

    [image=http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g117/enigmaxc/MVC-014S.jpg]
    I think my eyes are closed in this one. Man, I am soooo not photogenic!

    [image=http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g117/enigmaxc/MVC-039S.jpg]

    [image=http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g117/enigmaxc/MVC-038S.jpg]

    A shot of my first attempt at godets. After I initially sewed the skirt, I wasn't happy with how "full" it was--it was more like a column dress. The godets were actually Brandon's idea ((gasp!!)).

    So, I still have to
    --get gloves
    --make headpiece
    --put a bit of the red fabric in the v-neck
    --put hooks and eyes in the back
    --gold trim on headpiece and sleeves
    --and I think that's it!

    :D

    Thanks guys! I still need to do the belt, too--I forgot about that.

    And pay no attention to all the junk in the background of the pics. [face_blush] We're re-doing our downstairs area, so the carpet's been pulled up and the place looks like a bomb went off!

    Lookin good!

    I think the choice of materials works well. That was one peeve of mine at the con last weekend was people using materials that didn't even have the right, or even complementary textures, but yours are great.

    It's funny you should say that, Jon. Brandon posted my pics over on the Flagship Eclipse forums, and apparently some di'kutla British chick has a problem with my fabrics, my color choice, my use of godets, etc. etc. Basically her whole thing is "it's not canon! it's not canon!" I knoooooow it's not canon. The pic I'm using for my inspiration is not actually from the game, but from a concept drawing of Visas I found online. Why do some people have to get all psychotically anal retentive about costuming? Bleh...

    But at least I know I can come here and a couple of thumbs-ups from you all. :D

    Maybe she was just jealous of your creativity. :D

    I am hit with a severe lack of motivation. I need something to jump start me back into the costuming mode...

    I have found that in a lot of costume forums, they can be quite rude. They dog on you if you are not "canon" & discourage creativity & originality of any kind. Some people just don't have the time or money to research & then find the exact match to a fabric or prop, etc. & what happened to artist interpretation?! I think alot of costuming forums scare people away who would otherwise share because of it.
    Just ignore them! Your costumes have always looked great & this one is looking great now!

    People who are hung up on the whole canon issue make me laugh. How is one set of fictional writings any more real than another set of fictional writigs?
