The original question in of itself is misleading, as it alledges that clones of humans are somewhat less or divergent from "real" human beings.

A clone is exactly that. A genetic replica. One of the resultant individuals cannot be said to be any more or less real than the other.

well put...and that is what the Medstar duology is teaching us.

And yes...you pointed out that I said Original and the official word should have been "Official"...but to me...

Original = Official, when talking about sw.com.

As if there would be any substitute. Well, maybe for the message boards. :p

The novelization of AOTC has the Kaminoans stating that they need to 'keep' Jango there to replenish their DNA samples.

It would then follow that after his death, the cloners turn to other sources. Probably none of the new hosts are as good all-round warriors as Jango e.g. one of them is strong but has a poor aim, another is quick but not as strong, so several hosts are cloned to raise the averages.

Possibly a few hundred clones of Jango remain by ANH, e.g. the one who bashed his head in the Death Star.

To those who think Stormies are recruits, ask yourself this:

Based SOLELY on the movies, what would be the point of GL spending almost half of AOTC setting up the Republic's army (which he refers to on the commentary as 'Stormtroopers') as clones, only to have someone say in EP3 "these clones suck - lets just recruit normal people" ?

In short, Stormtroopers are clones. DEAL.

Based solely on ANH...the Stormies are differing heights...different speakers...different everything.

based solely on this...they are human. Clones never even came into the equation until the EU brought up the possibility...further enhanced that Clones were used in AotC.

And here's a question for you?

Why would the Clones not be used in the Imperial Navy Officer Ranks???

We all know that the Clone Troopers have the ranks of Captain and Lieutenant (among others) by color coding and training.

So why wouldn't they also be in Communications, Bridge Crewers and the like in ANH?

Han Solo himself was being trained to be an Imperial Officer...then he saved Chewie and left the Empire.

Dark Empire...the one EU source that GL loves so much....only lends people to believe that the Emperor used the Clones on him.

His Royal Guard were not clones...they were human beings...or else there would not have been such a strict training center for the training of them.
