Okay, so reply in English or German, I don't care which, but I have a weird thing to talk about. A good online friend just told me this:

you haven't seemed happy since you left [Germany... All I know is you haven't been the same since you came back... at least since I've known you

For those of you who know me... do you think this is true? Has anyone else noticed this?

If you like to know my honest opinion... From what you told me and the way you told me, it seems that your life got harder and so you seem to be less happy. Sadly. :(

But I don't know if it depends on leaving Germany or if it's 'just' the circumstances.

I think, Timo meant, that he maybe changed during his stay in Germany and his friend has the feeling that he's not the same Timo he had known before. Right?

I think it's very much possible that you changed during your stay here in Germany, just because all of those impressions you had being here for that long time...

No this friend actually thinks I am not happy in America any more and should move back to Germany.

Well, are you happy in the US?

I know there's a big difference between American and German mentality, which could be a reason as to why someone changes when being in a different culture for a longer period of time.

    It's natural, I guess.

Well, do you have reason to be unhappy? Well, enough of them to make a serious difference, I mean.

Sure I do. No friends, no job, no money, no insurance and bad health. But the question is, once I had these things would I still be unhappy and missing Germany? Or is my unhappiness tied to these things?

Egal in welchem Land man gerade sitzt.

Excuse my lapse to German. I didn't feel like straining my mind too much. :p

Yeah that's my point. From where I sit right now it's hard to see where the unhappiness is coming from.

Do you miss Germany? And if yes, do you see any reason?

Ugh... I went to the airport last night to pick up my brother from a business trip and it reaaaaaaaally made me want to fly to Germany. I miss it so much. Sabine to answer your question, no it's not because of any one person. I miss most everything about living there.

You know, I've been hearing it a lot lately, that a whole bunch of people would gladly pack their bags and come back to Germany.
Considering how the average German person keeps arguing how hideous our country is, it's nice to know that there are still some people who consider Germany to be nice.

Well I know it's not perfect, and it's a love/hate relationship for me with the German people, but I would love to live there again for a few years... working and stuff.

Then why don't you start planning/working on this? ;) :)

I had a conversation with my brother about this last night on the way home from the airport. I feel I would need to make a decision and then once that decision is made, plan out a road map for how this would happen and what I would need to do/have done before I actually made the move. It would be a major thing this time, not a year abroad. I would be selling a lot of my stuff, especially the big stuff, and staying in Germany for a few years or more.

So get this: Yesterday on the phone, my friend Andi suggested he talk to his bosses and see if they would be interested in having me apply to his company!
