Streamling TPM and AOTC into EPISODE 1

TPM and to a lesser extent, AOTC were panned by the critics. I know many of you luv these movies, and this thread is not intended as a TPM, AOTC bash.

I think AOTC was an enjoyable film, but TPM is really not up to standard. I really think that it was possible to mix TPM and AOTC into one film;

*Padme could be introduced as a Senator when she goes to Coruscant to vote against the Army as in AOTC.

*QuiGon (not Anakin) escorts Padme back to Naboo, but an assasination attempt on her on the way puts the ship out of action, leading them to Tatooine for spare parts as in TPM, then find Anakin.

*Sadly, no Maul, but more Dooku. We have Obi Wan discovering the creation of the clones.

*Palpatine becomes chancellor after a senate vote of no confidence in Valorum when it becomes clear the seperatist movement threatens the Republic and the Republic seems powerless to stop this.

*Keep pod race to show Anakin's force abilities

-No need for the Gungans (including Binks)

-no need for Trade disputes on planets we dont care about.

This would allow for an Episode 2 that is slap-bang in the centre of the Clone Wars. I think this would have been desirable because it would be more emotional and important having Anakin and Padme getting it on with the background of a raging war, as would Shmi's death.

We could see plenty of Palpatine'e medelling, playing the Republic and the Seperatists off one another and have another full episode of Dooku, rather than another token Sith apprenctice.
