Suggestion: Jedi Lightsaber disruptors in Episode 8

The villain has weapons that can disable a Jedi lightsaber.

For example:

During the attack on a planet, Luke's young Jedi padawan go into battle. The enemy activate small devices that emit an energy field to shut down the lightsaber's power. One of Luke's Jedi rushes into attack:

Luke shouts out

"Name, stand down!"

The cadet Jedi can't stop in time. He fights the bad guy. His lightsaber shuts down. The bad guy, perhaps a Sith or someone with similar type power, unleashes his own lightsaber and cut the padawan down!

Could have major potential and shift the balance of power in the storyline. I don't know if it's been done in any EU story but I think it's an idea worth exploring in future episodes.
