    I think I may be getting a job doing basically secretary work. It pays well $10.50/hour. However, the only drawback is that the hours are daily, full time job, from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Now there's two aweful things about that 1) I am not a morning person, I cannot get up in the morning and 2) It's MY summer vacation.

    If I get the chance I will probably end up taking it because I want to get about 5k to fix up my '74 trans am by next summer.

    Anyone have any suggestions on how I can deal with these hours?

    Hmmm...my only suggestion for the early morning commute is to introduce yourself to the wonder that is Dunkin Donuts iced coffee (or hot) with lots of extra sugar. God's gift to employees everywhere! Guaranteed to make you a little more bright eyed in the morning :cool:

    Suck it up old buddy. Make alota money! And anyhow, if you can't wake up now, will you be able to when you have an actual job three years from now? And you'll have the weekends off and nights to play cs and dl anything you want.

    I've been working in the hell that is bagging groceries for almost a year. It won't be too bad, but I'd keep your eyes open for something better for you. I want to get a job at EB. I hear that the hours are decent, and the work is relaxed and laid-back.

    If I didn't have to go to summer school I would be working for a month for my uncle on the Vineyard making 10-13$ an hour(full time job too). Of course now that my dumb ass teacher didn't pass me in spanish I have to go find a real job...

    If you get the job, Dave, try to get away from the front end. It's thankless work. Go for produce or grocery. At least there's some sense of getting something actually done, and no need to deal with money or ask people if they want paper or plastic all night.

    I'm probably going to be working at my father's Shell Station. He can work around my babysitting schedule unlike my current job. So...wahoo...working for Daddy is good! :D

    Ugh, I hate the front end. I just learned how to use the registers, and that's much better than bagging. The thing I hate about the front end is that you're always standing, and you always have to be doing something.

    //Mind trick
    you will go outside and pump the gas

    I'm a Tolderian, lady. Mind tricks don't work on me.

    //Beth grabs him by the ear
    Now get out there! :p

    Remember, sometimes you need some aggressive negotiations to get what you want.

    Oh, don't worry, I'm my mother's daughter and part Duffner, which means I have no problem being assertive. And you forget that chram also goes a looonnnggg way! ;)

    My Dad is actually worried that I won't listen to him when I work for him...he thinks I'll be too 'assertive' with rude customers too...hehe.

    Dave - yeah, they probably will make you a bagger at first. But you can always get out of that by putting pressure on the managers to get you into another department.
