Title: Sunset Wind
Summary: A young Jedi Padawan, Malily Vero, falls in love with Obi-Wan Kenobi,
and places herself in grave danger when his life becomes at stake in order to save
him.

She was easily the shyest child in the Temple. With her thick and fluffy hair, the top
of her head could easily be mistaken for the hair of a newborn Wookiee cub. Her
eyes though made Malily Vero stand out the most from everyone else. She had the
most amazingly deep green eyes. They were so dark they could almost be mistaken
for blue at times.

This was what young Anakin Skywalker noticed the most about her obvious beauty.
The shame was though that Malily had no idea how pretty she really was. As much
as she was shy, Malily was painfully clumsy, and that made everyone try to avoid her
when ever they could. Anakin saved her more than once from herself. He found her
funny, and to be a good listener, and an even better friend.

Malily Vero was fantastic. But she wasn't the Nubian girl who had stolen his heart at
first sight. His master often made light of his feelings for Padme. She was a pretty
girl, and it was natural he said. But Anakin knew he was going to marry her one
day.

One day his master would see...

Chapter One




Mace Windu walked up toward Anakin inside the third room training center,
"Padawan Skywalker, there's someone missing in the Temple. Master Yolgul has
informed the Council that his Padawan, Lily, has been missing for several hours. He
thinks that you might know where Lily has gone too."

Anakin brushed the sweat away from his forehead, and closed down the remote at
the same time as his lightsaber. A heavy sigh escaped his chest and he replied, "Well,
Malily will be where my master is. Obi-Wan just got back from the Oro Sector off
the coast of Alderaanian space. He went there with Senator Organa to speak with a
difficult trading chief. I still don't understand why I couldn't--"

"Anakin, focus on the here and now, if you'd please."

"Oh, I'm sorry, Master Windu. Obi-Wan is in the briefing with Master Yoda. He
should be out soon. Malily is likely outside the room waiting for him to come out like
she usually is. I think she has a bit of a crush on my master." Anakin smiled.

"Master Yolgul should speak with his Padawan. Such fancies are forbidden. They
lead to far too many dangerous things."

"Why?"

"Excuse me?"

"Why is love forbidden? How can love be of the Dark Side? My mother loved me
very much, and she's not something evil."

"It can lead to attachments. Attachments can lead to possession. Possession is of the
Dark Side of the Force. Be wary of such things, young Skywalker."

"But my mother let me go with Qui-Gon."

"Because she wasn't attached to you, young Anakin. Now go and help in the search
for Lily. Get back to me in thirty minutes with a report."

"Yes, master."

Anakin did as he was told. But with a very heavy heart for one so young.

Chapter Two


Obi-Wan Kenobi knew she was there before exiting through the doors of the
Council Chamber. The twelve-year-old had for some reason taken to him in the last
year, and had become his second shadow inside the Jedi Temple. Anakin was his
first of course. The boy was with him mostly every hour of the day. The mission to
Alderaan, although just a diplomatic assignment, had been an odd happening. He
had never been assigned to go anywhere without Anakin before since he had
become his apprentice.

"Hello, dear Lily. How are you this fine morning?"

The question caught the girl off her guard and she couldn't help but beam happily up
into the handsome face of the young Jedi Knight before her. Malily finally had his
attention, and most importantly of all, he was smiling down at her. His eyes were so
warm when he smiled. A perfect blue that brightened just for her.

"Mmm, hello there?"

Damn, he's speaking to me. Say something now!

"How was your journey to Alderaan?"

Obi-Wan started to walk with her down the bright corridor, "Just fine. I stayed in the
Palace, and the climate is always perfect in there. The Queen always insists on a
perfect temperature. She travels often to the Outer Rim with Senator Organa, trying
to convince those distant worlds to join the Republic. They are often very hot places.
Much unlike Alderaan itself," Obi-Wan finished with a pleasant smile.

Malily stared dreamily up at him, trying to picture everything, "I've never been there
before. My master doesn't like taking me on long-term assignments yet. He says that
I'm still too little."

Obi-Wan looked at the child. She was Anakin's age and even his height. But Malily
was very small framed, and not very tall. She could be easily harmed in a difficult
situation. But then could so anyone.

"I'm sorry that you haven't left the Temple often. But you will. I'm certain of it."

Obi-Wan then knodded to the girl and left her alone in the corridor.
