Until the rumors are confirmed, why can't we enjoy them for what they are? Something to imagine maybe, or something to laugh at.

    Something to think about.

    Couldn't agree more.

I don't see many people acting like every rumour is gospel truth anyway. Most seem to just want to discuss each one for the sake of it, regardless of whether or not they turn out to be BS.

I wish it were only those things- these sites are basically saying he is the Armageddon. Fear of the black man knows no bounds.

The blessing and the curse of the internet is that it is basically a free for all and nearly everyone has access to it. Sites like SuperShadow would have been a fanzine back in the day and treated with as much respect as the "escort" fliers that are handed out in Las Vegas on the strip. The closest any site had ever come to scooping things in a way that was free of the studio's grip was Aint It Cool but even they have seen their heyday and are now part of the system. To be honest the best rumors never turn out to be true anyway and the only spoilers I want to see with the sequel trilogy are casting announcements and trailers. Though I do wish we had SOME sort of confirmation at this point, I think the real news will start flying in the next couple of months as we inch closer to principle filming.

The SuperShadow days bring a smile to my face. I had a different name back then - Nightslyr (I forgot my old password, so created a new account) - and I remember the "It's true because it's plausible!"/"Yeah, but it's dumb, so it's false!" arguments.

I remember vague things like there being a whole group of Sith that had to be destroyed, and one of them was a stereotypically sexy Sith female that would seduce Anakin to the Dark Side. Did SS start the "Palpatine is a clone of Sidious" rumor? Or did that come up more organically?

I have a grudging amount of respect for the sheer effort SS put into the whole thing. He'd go back and rewrite his horrible fan fiction after every movie so it looked like his stuff fit in perfectly with what actually happened. You don't normally see that kind of dedication.

The Palpaclone debate was "organic"... if that is the word you really want to use to describe it.

There was definitely a Darth Legion rumour at one point : I am legion, for I am many.

I also remember a whole family of Fetts - Ambu anyone?

Neeson was going to be playing a Jedi called Bosh or Talkron who would play a crucial part in Anakin's fall.

And Nathalie Portman was going to be a warrior who's family had been killed who wanted blood vengeance against Palpatine...

    Fun times.

Robbie Williams was up for Anakin.

Gregory Hines was going to play a clone in Episode 1.

Alan from Eastenders was going to be a Jedi...

    Anyone remember anymore?

That said, I remember when AICN broke the whole of the opening crawl and space battle for ROTS, including General Grievous, Oddball and the Buzzdroids, and nobody would believe them.

I haven't thought of the words "Ambu Fett" in a decade. And I was better for it.

Up until Harry had that $300,000 tax problem and sold out his site, AICN was actually pretty accurate with their Star Wars rumors.

    This x a million.

I don't get the folks who sit around telling anyone who'll listen "This guy is full of BS! He got something wrong once!" I mean sure be skeptical etc but the fun of spoilers is discussing them, finding the evidence, thinking about how they could or might not work etc.

I take every one with a truckload of salt but lifes too short to scream "FAAKKE!" at everything and everyone just because it hasn't been confirmed yet.

It all seems rather parasitic to me. You have the rumor people who live off the silence of the filmmakers. Then you have the anti-rumor people who live off the rumors of the people who live off the silence of the filmmakers.

At least the rumor folks try to have fun with the silence, and may even occasionally find something true. I get that the anti-rumor people are supposedly trying to do something constructive, but the tone seems too reactionary and joyful about attacking people.

I remember he said Darth Bane would be back, and that Vader and Palpy would kill him.

    Was this it?

His site reads like the rantings of a Coast to Coast AM guest.

    I LOL's because:

1- I know what Coast to Coast is and
    2- It's true! [face_laugh]

Firstly, I came up with the same idea about a Sith hottie who would seduce Anakin to the Dark Side, too! But I'm not Supershadow. I just thought it made sense that Anakin would be seduced by a woman; a Sith witch like Asajj Ventress. In fact when I saw the original concept drawings for AV that's what I thought would happen.

Secondly, I remember one bit from one of his "scripts" that was pretty cool -- IIRC it was an army of Mandalorians who attacked Cloud City on Bespin via jetpacks. I don't recall why but I always thought that sounded kinda cool.

Anyway, I would love to see some Mandalorians in E7.

What was Bespin used for again per SS? A staging area for Mandalorians? Or a Jedi Academy? I get confused anymore between early EU (LUUUUKE the clone), and fan fiction.

That's crazy @Echo-07, I was thinking of the same part of the master script!

I remember discovering SuperShadow way back when.... Never bought it for a second. I thought it was fun to read because of how silly it was, and I thought that was the point of it.......

    Outside of SuperShadow.....

During the rumor period of Ep. III I remember when we were first told that Anakin would be appointed to the Council by Palpatine, but not granted the title of Master. I though that was an outragous rumor!

"Palpatine manages to separate Padme from Anakin so that the beautiful, exotic Darth Xio Jade can seduce Anakin.
Xio Jade introduces herself to Anakin and uses a powerful, irresistible dark side mind trick to seduce Anakin. It doesn't hurt that Xio is also one of the most beautiful women in the galaxy. She records their affair on a Sith holocron and sends the holocron to Palpatine."

It's just as funny now as it was back then. Because family friendly Star Wars is going to introduce infidelity and voyeurism.

I recall helping spread the Darth Kimball rumors prior to either TPM or AOTC. Some of you were party to our shenanigans. Do I feel bad about it? Not in the least. I'm a little more mature now (just a little) but those were the wild wild west days of online fandom. Everyone was doing it.

This was in the days of Chewie the blue yoda guy. *sigh* Memories...

Frickin' ANNOYING would be a better description. My God, people refused to see what was right in front of their face on that one...

We helped spread a rumor that the new villain in the prequel trilogy was named Darth Kimball. The rumor went viral, to the extent things could go viral back then (Corona, AICN, etc).

Here's a reference to us by AICN (last paragraph). I guess it was pre-AOTC.
