In Episode IX? I’m not surprised. He probably showed Snoke the secret of staying alive after being chopped in half, just like Qui-Gon taught Obi-wan how to be a Force ghost.

 

Maul only survived bcs a friendly snake brought his surviving upper half food. Which gave him the energy required to build a robotic lower body out of scrap. Which he was able to accomplish due to the mechanical engineering extension course he took at Sith College.
I saw no evidence of courteous reptiles anywhere in Snoke's throne room, so I think he's out of luck.

An excellent question. Why didn't TCW explore this point? Perhaps we could speculate that Maul also fashioned a robotic digestive system out of spare parts.
What's puzzling about the snake, who went by the name of Morley, is that he'd apparently deliver food to half-Maul in exchange for "the leftovers". Which begs the question of why Morley the snake didn't just keep the food for himself, rather than acting like Maul's personal reptilian Uber Eats attendant. Anyway, let's not nitpick one the great against the odds survival stories.

 

Presumably there's some kind of energy-processing technology that functions like a digestive system.

Greivous is even more robotic than Maul yet still has organic parts, so he must also have to consume "food" in some way (despite having no mouth).

 

Maul probably found that energy processing technology in that scrap heap on some random planet. What’re the odds!

"Food" in this case, is living food - Morley can't kill random travellers (not big enough and powerful enough) - but he can lure them to Maul, who can kill them.

Maul didn't kill Morley - the person lured into being ambushed by Maul, did, as revenge for being ambushed in the first place.

Think of them as a two-being highwayman/serial killer group - one is the actual killer, one the decoy.

 

Not much of an ambush then. I still don't see what's in it for the snake here. Seems like quite an inequitable arrangement.
