ST SW Episode VII to OPEN DECEMBER 18, 2015

You know how LOTR and Harry Potter were winter releases, swap in Star Wars now. (Maybe a little bit of jostling whenever a James Cameron movie hits.) But, yeah, big time X-Mas release = chance to stop through to February.

 

Hobbit 4 will slaughter it.

 

The irony is that, IIRC, it was the original Star Wars that established that films released in May could even earn money; it was far more common to release your film over the holiday season.

 

Yep, and nothing comes out in Jan or Feb save for movies sent to die.

 

You don't know that. They were behind schedule once, it can happen again. A dragging production can result in a rushed post-production.

I want this movie to be an excellent one, an instant classic. How much money it makes is less important to me.

I feel like I ate crazy pills. Why is everyone taking these bad news as something positive?

 

One thing that really sucks about this little "delay?" Celebration VII will probably be much more boring than it would have been one month before the film's release. I almost wish they would push back Celebration as well.

Otherwise, I'm fine with this news. Standing in line will sure be cold.

 

I...,.um......I..... *sigh* will see it regardless of its release date but this still makes me sad.

and that's where your going to lose people with any arguement you have. In Hollywood, money is everything. Money was everything to Lucas as well, just to toss that in there.

If Star Wars doesn't perform well at the BO, it won't matter how good it was. It will be considered a bad investment, and there won't be any Star Wars at all.

DREDD was a great action movie. Very much like the 80's Verhoeven flicks. We won't be seeing a sequel.

 

Because there's absolutely nothing wrong with a December 2015 release date.

Episode IV was originally a December 1976 release date, moved up to May 1977.

Because it's not bad news.

They were up against a very tight schedule without a shooting script. They now have more time to get it right. Of course, more time does not always equal more quality, but it just as equally may do. They won't go beyond schedule again.

 

i gotta tell you i have mixed feelings about this, i was looking forward to going as one of the main characters from episode VII for halloween in 2015.

 

Considering that it is the beginning of a new trilogy, you will have ample opportunities. You will also get time to get your costume right for the first run.

The fact that people are incensed over Episode VII not being rushed to a May 2015 release date baffles me.

And that's why you can't possibly understand why those who invested in the movie and those creating the movie, do. This movie is being made for a whole lot more people that you.

 

It doesn't surprise me in the least. In fact, I think its going to get pushed back to May 2016. I think they may make a valiant effort for that winter date; but I think the powers that be will just go with the summer release in the end.

Also, I'm pretty positive that Arndt will get a writing credit for the movie.

This is actually very good news, considering the slow crawl of pre-production for the project. It means that Disney realized that its better to make a quality product than a rushed one.
