    Since there's little to discuss right now, maybe this will spark something. Our good pal Ali Arikan said on Twitter that he's hearing a rumor that shooting will start on April 22nd. So, yay, a rumor.

    Latest rumour is Star Wars will start filming on April 22. Word was shooting would begin in May; that's the first exact date going around.

    Followed closely by the news report saying, "Disney headquarters is under siege today by millions of plastic armor wearing super nerds! Several on scene witnesses are reporting severe bruising from multiple wallops of the attackers toy laser swords!" :p

    Come April 1st Disney will issue a statement clarifying that they didn't actually buy Lucasfilm, they bought Star Trek instead. Star Trek 3 is starting filming on the 22nd April. Star Wars is dead.

    I hope the script is finished before filming starts. I can sense a Lone Ranger/world War Z type filming nightmare. It's as if the quality of the film can afford to be sacrificed so that the movie can be released on a specific date?

    It's too close for comfort is all. Big films have release dates that cannot be missed nowadays. They will push on with filming even if the script isn't finished - google the making of men in black III. They also push ahead with weak scripts that require rewrites during filming (Ridley Scott's Robin Hood). George Lucas has been working on Star Wars for about 40 years now, surely there should be a fair idea where Episode VII is going scriptwise - yet to date we have an unfinished script, a rumoured filming date only three and a half months away, and as yet no confirmed cast.

    Alarm bells are ringing Willy.

    Truth is the vast majority (actually, all) big budget films are “rushed” to meet a release date. Very often the release date is the first announcement that's made.

    I don't think this is the case here. They already pushed back the release date from Summer to December to make sure they wouldn't be rushing anything.
