ST SW Episode VII to OPEN DECEMBER 18, 2015

But now we have the opportunity to say "We will se EPVII in 7 months!" six months from now.

Bumping this because we're a few days from the clock saying 52 weeks.

However!

I get the feeling this will end up being released on a Wednesday ala The Hobbit. Which means Tuesday night previews.

So that makes Today the true one year marker.

 

I had been saying that for a while, but now I am not so sure. Can they/would they make that change a year out? It would be awesome if they did, but I'd think they'd have made that announcement much earlier.

 

I've always assumed that when they announced December 18, they meant December 18. It's too specific for them to then say, "Well we said December 18, but we really just meant somewhere around there. They hyped that date as a part of their early marketing strategy, and I don't see them changing it.

 

I can see them doing a special IMAX-only release a few days earlier than the general release. Business at those cinemas would be insane!

 

And now with countdown clock. but dang it, it's still a year away. I guess that's good so I can save some coin for this...but definitely going to do an IMAX run at least once.

 

The countdown begins I can feel the faint humming sounds of the darkside beginning to awaken cant wait for this movie.

 

I wouldn't say Dec. 18th is locked, the teaser said just "December 2015".

The Avengers Age of Ultron trailer said just "May 2015". Not sure if that means anything either because it's scheduled on May 1.

 

The December 18th, 2015 release date was officially announced by Lucasfilm/Disney in November, 2013 via the magazine Entertainment Weekly, the same source that gave us the official character names last week.

I'm sure a year out its subject to change, but they have said it was the release date before.

 

Well, there is going to be a Thursday night show (all of the Marvel blockbusters have had it), either 7 PM or 10 PM (nobody does Midnight anymore) so technically it's out on April 30th.

Release dates for mid to late Decemeber are generally wobbly, there are a hellova lot of movies during the week before X-Mas / Christmas Day that end up in the middle of the week. Hobbit and Anchorman 2 are the ones off the top of my head that opened mid-week in December.

 

I believe On www.starwars.com they announced that December 18 2015 is actually the official Release date for Star Wars Episode 7 The Force Awakens.

 

Can't wait for "48 weeks, 15 days, 16 hours, 23 minutes, 42 seconds."

Or "1 hour, 48 minutes." Too bad it can't be listed as "108 minutes."

With pre-production in full-swing, a confirmed release date of December 18, 2015, has been set for Lucasfilm’s highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII.
“We’re very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture,” said Alan Horn, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios.
Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams (Super 8, Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek) and is being scripted by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi). Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, with Tommy Harper (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Jack Ryan, Star Trek Into Darkness) and Jason McGatlin (Tintin, War of the Worlds) serving as executive producers. John Williams is returning to score Star Wars: Episode VII.
Shooting is scheduled to begin spring 2014 at Pinewood Studios.

Yeah, the December 18th date was officially announced. I'm not sure where this "sometime in December" thing came from. And on that note... the one year out date is:

TOMORROW

 

Wouldn't it throw a wrench into everyone's gears if they just release the movie tomorrow, out of the blue.

Just in case, I just reserved seats for what my theater had listed as "Untitled Movie Which Is Definitely NOT Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

 

I don't think I would... I would try not to, anyway. Glad this isn't a Sony movie.
