Phx SW Regional Camping Trip Planning Thread - Part 1

Plus, how many chances do you get to stand on something that looks just like a scene out of Tatooine?!

I have a 23FT camper, with a pretty good sized water tank if need be (and 3 or 4 5gal containers as well). The camper can take electric and I think the battery power works too (have to ask Dad on that one). Also have a propane stove and fridge in there.

This might be a good time to mention equipment. I have a couple Coleman stoves, some open pit cooking gear, an old Army Tent (the big suckers), 6 Man Tent, and a small dome tent. I will be sleeping in the camper (2 or 3 nights sleeping on the ground and I won't be able to move for a month). I believe I also have access to several sleeping bags. And I am well experienced in camp cooking for large groups (used to cook for rafting trips to earn money as a teenager).

 

Oh good lord...If I need to I can borrow stuff from various friends out here and I think I could host a small army...

stove, fire pit, tents, lanterns.... horses...oh wait...now that would be cool!

 

So we can have the man power for a full 2 flights it sounds like, maybe even an under powered squadron. Also sounds like we're getting the gear together for an under manned squadron...and I'm sure the people in PFF cna go a long way to arming said squadron.

Umm, last I checked, I can arm about two platoons...

Oops, I guess I could equip a platoon, and then some.

Actually, it's a movie I've been wanting to see, I've simply lacked the opportunity.

 

I was thinking of shooting as an activity for the trip, and then I remembered that there will be too many munchkins running around for that.

and I really like you all and dont want to the cause of people dieing, so i agree that lard and beans should stay off the menu for the weekend.
and is this going to be be a friday through saturday kind of thing or just sat and sun?

 

I plan on getting there on Friday. But I think other work schedules might cut into that for most people. I'm going to head out after I get done w/ classes that day, I could swing by and pick you up on the way (probably have to do the same for Sarah anyway).

 

Yeah, work kinda prevents me from doing that. The little buggies at work need me, you know

 

well i was planning on driving down, bit maybe carpooling would be better.

 

I can borrow my in-laws pop-up camper and I also have a 3 room tent the size of a small condo. I Hope I can make this.

Sorry mick, yeah it's a weekend thing. Too many years of weekends falling on ... well any day of the week, I guess. lol.. .

I can see it now though with as many people as I think we'll end up there someone is gonna se an army gathering to the south and call in the troops. eeeekkk...

 

hey, if anyone gets really bored at some point, we could drive to fort collins and i could show everyone where i grew up!

ah, yes. the memories. what's scary is those are all things that really happened.

on second thought, maybe we should steer clear of the old hometown.
