SW-TV References 2009-2010 Season

With a new TV season in full swing, the Star Wars references are coming out again. And with the 30th anniversary of ESB, might be a season full of little goodies.

How I Met Your Mother : S05E02 : 2009.09.28 : [approximate time]
Barney used the Chewbacca Exhibit excuse to get away from the girlfriends.

Accidentally on Purpose : S01E02 : 2009.09.28 : ~10 min.
One of the characters mentions that the ex-boyfriend is a handsome Darth Vader.

Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother in the first week also had SW References.

Patrick Jane during a conversation with agent Lisbon:
Patrick: Hey, thanks for not telling I made you take the case. Lisbon? Hello?
Lisbon: Tell me the truth.
Patrick: Truth. Darth Vader? Luke's father.

And there are much more that I don't remember right now.

 

While I can't remember the episode, Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons makes a reference to TCW. Says something along the line of how 'George Lucas is creating inferior CGI additions', or some such stuff.

 

The season premiere of The Simpsons featured a SW poster.

On the Disney Channel cartoon series Phineas and Ferb, they make SW references at times. One episode had a character saying "It'll be just like Beggar's Canyon back home", and in an episode where the two title characters build a car wash in their backyard, their sister Candace goes through it, and comes out with her hair done up in Princess Leia's double-bun hairdo.

 

Phineas and Ferb is such a clever show... with many SW references.

Doofenshmirtz pretends to use the force on Agent P and says "Just kidding. But I made you look, didn't I?" As well as that, their entire fight is a reference to lightsaber duels, especially Yoda's and Dooku's in Episode II.

Phineas and Ferb : S00E00 : 2000.000.00 : The Chronicles of Meap
Star Wars is referenced an obscene amount of times. Mitch tells Meap "I am not your father," clearly referencing Episode V's iconic line. Ferb says "That's no cloud; that's a space ship," referencing the similar line in A New Hope. Phineas responds to the preceding line by saying "I've got a good feeling about this." Throughout the episode, Phineas refers to a "cute interference," referencing a scene in Episode V.

There was yet another SW reference during FG tonight.

They used the famous Dagobah line.

 

Family Guy: Season 8: Episoede 2: "Family Goy"

This weeks Family Guy had 2 references.

Stewie: Look at all these short, hairy men. I feel like im on the forest moon of Endor!

*Peters Father (Francis) spirit appears to him*

Peter: Hey dad before you go can you say "Peter you must go to the Dagobah system"?

Francis: "Peter, you must go to the Dagobah system"!

Peter: *sighs*....thanks.....

 

Those are classic!

 

Mythbuster's "Duct Tape" Episode has a 'Light Side / Dark Side' reference in the first 5 minutes.

 

In the FlashForward episode "Black Swan," Lloyd's son has a Clone Wars bedspread, shown about 38/39 minutes in.

 

Cool! Coincidently, I was just reading about that show to see if it was any good.

 

The NYC PBS affiliate, WLIW, during their contribution days is running 'The Making of Star Wars in Concert'. Multiple airtimes today.

Another FlashForward reference: Aaron dressed up as a Jedi; I believe it was Obi-Wan, for Halloween.

-While Ferb is test-driving the spaceship, Mitch says 'I have you now' like Vader did while chasing Luke during the Battle of Yavin. But Ferb unintentionally makes him spin farther away from him like Vader did.

Thaddeus and Thor:
Doofenshmirtz says he felt a disturbance in the cup-stacking universe.

No More Bunny Business:
Dennis and Perry have a sword fight like Count Dooku and Yoda do.

 

Supernatural is full of SW references. Yoda, Wedge, Obi-Wan, Palpatine. It's all there.

 

Oh yeah, when Dean was 50 years older and Sam makes the refrence that he looks like Emperor Palpatine.

Yes, this last episode. But there are many others, like Sam's password: Wedge Antilles, the guy with mind powers tricks Dean and he calls Sam saying: "That guy made the Obi'Wan's mind trick on me", etc, etc...

 

Venture Brothers is a walking Star Wars reference. The last 5 minutes of tonights episode had 24 telling 21 to go to the Degobah system and 21 dressing up as a Jedi once he finds out he's being a do gooder.

Just the whole show is filled with Star Wars, seasons 1-4. People who haven't seen it, it's probably one of the most consistently good shows on TV and is probably the show that I would recommend the most.
