Well considering the Carrie Fisher thread starting going a little OT, I thought I'd start this one up. Basically, who out there has had, been to, or wants to have a Star Wars, or any other Sci-Fi themed wedding?

Personally I would want to have stormtroopers escorting the guests, an R2 unit as the Ring Bearer, I don't know yet if I would go for a Grand Admiral uniform or Starfleet Admiral uniform (since First Contact the Admiral's uniforms look so cool!) and all of my best men would match. If I went Grand Admiral they would all be in Imperial Navy uniforms, with my best man as an Admiral and the rest Captain, or if I went the Trek route they would all be in Starfleet Dress whites [image=http://home.austin.rr.com/jdominion/images/Group_Dress.gif]

Now if I could get the priest in Jedi Robes, that would be killer! I know of at least one girl that would want a SW wedding, so hopefully there are others and I'll be lucky enough to find one one day...

    Ack! Star Trek?!?!? Yuck! :p

I definitely want a Star Wars wedding. I don't think I could marry a guy that didn't like Star Wars enough to want to incorporate it into the wedding. I just don't think it would work.

Ok, just because you had a bad movie marathon doesn't mean Trek isn't great! If I was introduced to Trek the same way you were, I think I would hate it to. I'll turn you to the light side of Science Fiction yet young one :p

What do your parents think of a SW wedding? I bet my mom and dad would be cool, but my grandmother would shoot me.

I also really hope that I find someone that doesn't mind being proposed to at a Con, because I think that would be really cool. That, and when you are surrounded by a bunch of troopers you tend to not say 'no' ;)

I think my mom would be cool with it, as I have already discussed it with her. Either that or she's just banking on the "fact" that it's just a phase and I will grow out of this silly Star Wars kick.

My dad would just think I was creepy or something.

LOL, and what if it isn't a phase?? What would they say if you brought home a boyfriend dressed like a Jedi :p

I don't think my dad really cares, but I know my mom hopes that I find someone that loves this stuff as much as I do. I think when I hit High School and still wore Star Wars shirts everyday she figured out it wasn't a phase :)

I was in a wedding for my friends a few years ago. I believe the guys (groom and his men) entered to the imperial march (?)...
The ringbearer's pillow (my gift to the couple) had little Star Wars figurines on the ribbon ends.
The cake was really cool as well. It was three layers. The decorator had added fake "cracks" all over the surface. The top layer sported a Leia figure leaning over the edge of the cake holding onto a falling Luke. Other various characters covered the other layers in different levels of inbalance. It was really neat.

At our reception, the wedding party entered to the Cantina song, and then we entered to the Star Wars theme (after the Fox movies introduction). Our rings have "May the force be with us" inscribed on them.

I have yet to go to one myself, but I think it would be great fun. I don't know if going as a grand admiral or as a moff would be better though, I'm not sure about getting married in an all white grand admiral uniform. That would be creepy.

Just for the record I was at that star trek marathon thing too, and it was truly bad.

Oooh! I love the ring inscription! How cool! You'll have to let me see next time we get together.

For the ST marathon, bad is putting it lightly.

You poor, poor souls. No one should be introdueced to Trek with the first movie. I've been a devout Trekkie since I was 7 and I will admit that it was one of the worst movies ever made. The first needs to be something like Trek 4, 6, or First Contact, one of the better action orientated movies. And if you never see Treks 1, 3, 5, or Generations, you aint missin' much! And don't even try to get in on Enterprise. Horrible television in the making. After Deep Space 9 Trek just started going way downhill.
