Memph, TN SW: Where Science Meets Imagination Exhibition, Huntsville, AL - July 31, 2010

The SW: Where Science Meets Imagination Exhibition comes to the southeast United States for the first time this summer. The exhibition will be at the US Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL from June 24 to September 6, 2010.

Exhibition includes:

Artifacts and props from all 6 movies

Ride in a full-scale replica of the Falcon cockpit and experience the jump to lightspeed as Anthony Daniels narrates

See the Special Effects IMAX movie, which follows ILM as they work on the Star Wars SE and other movies

Ticket Info:
Day Ticket (9am to 5pm)
Adult: $30
Child: $20

Evening Ticket (5:30pm - 9pm Sun thru Thurs; 5:30pm - 11pm Fri-Sat)
Adult: $20
Child: $15

Millenium Falcon Theater

The exhibition is expected to be full during peak times, so the Space & Rocket Center strongly recommends that you reserve your admission time.

Road trip!

 

When are we thinking about going? This will have to be kid-friendly for us, which means bringing alcohol for me!

 

With upcoming trips to Cape Girardeau, Phoenix and Metropolis, I'm gonna be road tripped out for a bit. I'm thinking end of July or into August.

 

Yeah, I'm thinking further into the summer and fall, the better.

Traci and I are going to pass on this one.

If it were "The Magic of Myth" exhibition that toured the world, we might feel differently, but, seeing what others posted about this exhibit, 10 hours (round trip) is a bit far to drive for this, and with a big trip already planned for her birthday in October, it just doesn't make sense for us to waste money on this.

 

Unfortunately, we're in about the same place. It would be $100 for us just to get in, and from the photos I've seen, it's not worth putting it above our other trips right now. You guys that go take lots of pictures!

 

And at least $100 for the hotel room, not to mention gas and food. 5 hours ain't exactly a day trip, and I can put that money to better use in the Big Easy and the Caribbean.

 

Rob and I want to go and that weekend would be fine. We are currently in the middle of a car crisis. Our car died on us and will cost too much to fix for the age and mileage. we are trying to find something reasonable, but until we do, we are not going anywhere. I am hoping to hear something back from a friend who is looking for something for us today. If we do not get a car today, I don't know how we are getting to work tomorrow.

Ooh- I feel your pain. I soooo don't miss my ride having MATA on the side of it!

Oswald at Carmax was good to work with for our Batmobile.

I'm looking forward to seeing the IMAX movie- hope it's the one I saw at the Pink Palace. I've been wanting to see it again or catch it on DVD. Saw the Under Sea DVD at Target the other day.

I keep saying I need to retire Montie, but I'm not sure I'd have the heart to trade him in. I'm thinking about starting to look around in the fall, though. Maybe I'll give Jacob Montie and trade in his Jeep.

 

The Batmobile has come in handy for road trips for sure!

Nicki has talked about retiring the truck, but we keep using it to haul stuff and she likes not having a car note.

Oh, yes. Not having a car note, and the insurance payment that comes along with one is great.

These days a car notes is half a mortgage.

 

Well, we got a car. A 2004 Toyota Matrix red. It is nice and the mileage was good, only 79,000. It was a fleet or rental car. I hate having a car payment, but our insurance only went up $3 a month. It is not my Vibe, which I am still mourning the loss of. I will see it one last time when I take the title to the repair shop. At this point, we are planning on going to Huntville the last weekend of the month. We are staying with family, so no lodging expense. Just have to pay for gas and food.
