SWC Galactic Republic Senate Game Session 2: Feb-May 2006

Just drop this nonsense and move on...Go read the History book sometime.

I read books, I watch movies, I know stuff.

 

Move on with what, we have nothing else to do.

I think that once a new SC term eings we should discontinue sign-ups until the next voting period.

This way it could be more real-life-like.

Or maybe we would have to induct planets into the Republic during the term and there wold be open sign-ups during voting times.

Our Questionaire to be given to the candidates during the election:

1. The Supreme Chancellor's position is that of "gamemaster;" that is, the Supreme Chancellor decides the setting, time period, and the scenarios requiring the senate's attention; what can you tell us about the kind of setting, time period and scenarios you envision?

2. The Supreme Chancellor's position is that of "chairbeing;" that is, the Supreme Chancellor keeps things fair; given the constitutions constraints, what can you tell us about your approach to keeping order and fairness during your term?

3. The Supreme Chancellor's position is that of "host;" that is, the Supreme Chancellor keeps things fun and listens to the needs of the players; what can you tell us about your approach to answering the needs and concerns of the players?

4. Will we see repercussions of the motions and bills that we make as a Senate body in game?

5. How will you incorporate (or not incorporate) the Jedi and the Sith into your scenarios?

6. As SC, what will you be handling personally and what will you be allowing others to do?

7. As SC, what role(s) would political parties and political groups play? Would you try to incorporate them, or try to block them? Would you like to start a precident for the session by allowing the formation of standing political organizations?

8. Will you include "special interest groups" or other variations on real world politics into your scenarios? If so, give us an idea of what that will be like for the players.

 

Very good questions.

With the canidate being forced to ask those I will have a better idea of who I want in the executive office.

 

I am so excited. Nominations are tomorrow. I know who I am going to nominate. The game will begin soon yub yub!

 

Elections begin tomorrow for supreme chancellor for the month of February. May we nominate the best; and may we vote in the best of the best.

Schedule:

1.27 - Any last minute additions to the candidate questionaire (see earlier posts).
Any last minute questions concerning the election process or the constitution.

1.28 - Nomination Day. Each senator may post an endorsement for a candidate for SC (not him/herself).

1.29 - Campaign Day. Each senator with at least two nominations/endorsements are considered candidates. I will send each of them the questionaire and ask them to post their campaign speech which should include answers to those questions; otherwise they should back out of the race. Other senators may ask follow up questions. Candidates should answer the answers of their constituants.

1.30 - Voting Day. Polls open. Senators (but not candidates) send their votes to me in a PM at any time up until midnight. Senators may ask the candidates additional questions and candidates may engage in debate throughout the day.

1.31 - Appointments and Transition Day. I wll post the # votes for each candidate and declare the winner as our SC elect. The SC elect will declare appointments to VC and SotH. Winner will post a "State of the Republic" post to describe what's going on in their universe and will outline the first scenario requiring the senate's discussion.

I unfortunately don't have the political skills to be Chancellor, but I will gladly be the winner's bodyguard.

 

I am not planning on seeking the position but I may need someone to guard my body anyway. would you be willing to bodyguard anyone or just the winner? Do you have a resume?

Since there really isn't anything going on I decided I could be silly.

Oh by the way my platform is trying to have the music of our planet changed back. We are outraged that without any consultation it was changed to the same music everyone else has. We have survived for hundreds of years and our music is the sound of our culture and it is a terrible injustice to have it changed without warning and our approval.

At 12:01 AM forum time on Saturday, January 28th senators may nominate a candidate for the supreme chancellorship of the SWC Galactic Republic Game, Session 2, for the month of February, 2006.

A senator may endorse any senator besides him/herself, but may make only one nomination.

A senator declares his/her nomination in a form such as "I nominate so and so."

At the end of 1.28.2006, at midnight, I will declare all senators with two or more nominations as candiates and will give them instructions to give their campaign or declination speeches.

 

I can't believe I'm the first person to choose this, I'll take the Trade Federation, LOL
It's not a planet, but they did have a senator in TPM. I guess that counts. If that doesn't work for you, well, a moderator can edit it and give me Tatooine instead.

may i just say here and now that if any planet is in need of reinforcements, and what we get is good enoughwe will send an army of the yassana, force sensitive armys who are masters of the force and excellent tactical men

 

As a word of reminder, players in this game are senators acting as represenatives of their people to the central Republic government (the senate). We are not playing the queens, presidents, prime ministers, generals or other planetary government officials.

Consider this example: a senator from the state of Washington can propose all sorts of federal bills, however, he/she cannot volunteer Washington State national guard nor the resources of that state; in the same light, we as senators can propose all sorts of Republic bills, but we cannot volunteer the resources of our planets as they are under the direction of a planetary government whose actions are determined by the supreme chancellor and the scenario's he/she introduces.

 

I've changed first_mate's planet to Tatooine since he gave me a choice; these are supposed to be planets. If the player wants the planet to be called Trade Federation or The Trade Federation that is fine, but it wouldn't be the same body we've seen in Star Wars (and that could get confusing).

Hey I was going to nominate him. Not fair you must have gotten out of bed sooner than I did. Oh why didn't I set my alarm clock.

I second the nomination of DarthIntegral.

 

I will briefly intrude on nomination day to say this to my fellow senators... I had no intention of infringing on your rights to debate a subjuect...I merely made my comment because the two of you seemed to be getting worked up and my comment was meant to keep all heads level.

I agree that we should debate on exactly these types of topics...I apologize if it seemed that I was speaking "out-of-turn"

With that said, I back the Nomination of Senator DarthIntegral and look forward to the rest of the election process...
