SWC Galactic Senate

SO right now all the powers are held by the supreme chancellor. Right now we are agreeing to continue being led by the chancellor. We are breaking the rules on page 1. But we are continuuing..

So he's got all the power right now because we GIVE HIM those powers.. We voted him in so we are going to see if he can't make this place better.

While he continues to have our support, I say we let him talk about how to divvy out power and under what rules we are going to let govern this star wars forum universe's reality and government.

Are you sure about that WOM what if the chancellor that you all voted in turns out to be corrupt and reorganizes the Republic into a Galactic Empire or something to that effect.

 

And what time period we are in. We could vote him out of office then Spice.

 

I say for a week. That's too long.

But you said he/she can create scenarios. What if he/she starts a war or creates a conflict, gets you to give him/her emergency powers and rewrites the constitution in his/her favor.

 

Because rewriting the constitution is not a scenario, it's an amendment. The constitution would only be allowed to be ammended at the request and vote of the Senate.

We could still vote him out before he does it. The Chancellor cannot change that rule.

And I don't think there should be a time frame. We should let each planet be represented in its prime. We could then write our own history of the SW universe, as LemmingLord proposed to me during my unfortunately brief administration.

Here are some suggestions Lemming:
1.Two week term for chancellor.

2.Chancellor can re-run for chancellor, but after he wins once, he cant anymore, just like America's re-running thing.

3.Vice-Chancellor's assume power in the absence of the Chancellor.

4.Chancellor's MAY NOT assume any more power than what he has, and CAN NOT extend his term!!

5.If more then half the senate wants to take a Chancellor out of power (and the reason must be good) then the Chancellor nominates a new person to take his place. If he dosen't the Vice-Chancellor does. If the Vice-Chancellor dosen't, the senate does.

Sound good?

 

We will not kick out any Senator purely on the grounds that we disagree with them. It's not up to me, but I would let you stay.

Now this is where the fun begins.

 

The problem with that is that there are only so many senators. We would run out of candidates eventually. It should be something like "After serving 2 terms, a SC is not eligable to run in the next 5 elections." Other than that, I like your rules.
