Since there haven't been anymore nominations, Nehru_Amidala is now chancellor of the republic. Could you give us an idea on where you'd like to take the republic during your term?

 

I would like to see this thread restored to it's former glory as it was at this time last year, or thereabouts. I would also like to see some action on what to do about The First Order.

Nehru, I would be willing to be Vice-Chancellor. I have a couple ideas about where to go from here.

I was going to PM, but sure.

- Drastic idea: wrap up with the destruction of Hosnian Prime soon, then PM mods about creating one set, say, 200 BBY. This is more of a distant future idea than anything else.
- For right now: expanding travel. We are in a time of peace, and want to promote prosperity, so we need to promote research about civilian crafts.
- Another idea: create a team of historians to create a state recommended history curriculum. Some planets are still using the empire's indoctrination, and though this would definitely not be mandatory, it would be a valuable tool for those planets who can't afford to compile their own galactic history.

- For right now right now: I move that we declare a galactic month of celebration. This would be a time of gratitude, helping others, and gifts. It would end about the same time as your term.

Once the game actually gets up and running we'll get the Chancellor her colors, until then there is no need to waste time on something that might not be needed.

 

I was thinking that it might be a good way to get people seeing the game, but I understand.

P.S. Will you participate here a bit? You were chancellor, if I remember right.

 

As always I stand ready to reprise my role as Senator of Mandalore, however much more than that I don't really have the time for. Hopefully Episode VIII will give us some more ideas for the future of the game.

Well, you have my moral support, then. Erm... I'm not really familiar with these portion of Star Wars canon, so I'm kind of lost. I never finished The Force Awakens. But I can see that you need some more people, so if that's not an issue, I can join if you want.

Well, since you asked so nicely, why not? Sounds like it could be fun. Could you explain to me a bit more about the different factions? I read the OP but it's a bit unclear. What exactly are the populists after? Do they sympathize with The Resistance?

I've heard it explained as centrists = authoritarians and populists = libertarians. The chancellor basically determines what issues the republic is facing, and right now we're just making committees that might address looking into the first order. Players can PM the chancellor their game ideas; I posted them here because we're restarting. We just speak as if we were the senate, and make up some issues to face.

Yeah try to stay away from the planets already taken (even if inactive) unless you've contacted that player and they want to cede control of it to you for the game. In terms of populist vs centralist, for our game the centralists want power concentrated within a strong central government while the populists want a more power kept at the local/planetary level necessitating a weaker central government. We also have the Independents, who may sympathize more with one party or the other but who remain apart from them for various reasons.

For example, the Mandalorian position in the game is Independent. They tend to align with the populists on many issues (keeping power at the local level) and the centralists on others (they do back a strong military, but with local controls). In game I've taken that even further and abstain on nearly every vote as something of a running gag.

As to the game itself, lets try to keep it centered on the time frame established in the OP of this thread. We're trying to keep things more closely aligned with the canon as we have a lot more to go with now in that regard. As it was in my last term as Chancellor i was trying to get us moving in the direction of founding/funding the Resistance as a hedge against the growing First Order but we didn't get that far before my term ended.

 

Like colors, though, I think there needs to be revived interest before we can bring in big canon things. Of course, it's up to you and the chancellor.

 

Ugh.. Considering how it was named, I'll pass. It was a lame joke, not supposed to be taken seriously and canonized!
