Swear words in Star Wars books--

Has there ever been a Star Wars book where there were other swear words than damn, and sith?

 

Corran or others in Stackpole novels have said 'bastard', I believe.

 

Depends on what you mean by swear words. Real life or Star Wars. With Star Wars swears, we get swears such as:

Emperor's blackbones
Sithspawn
Sithspit
By the Force
Stang

Those are just a few that we can find. And By the Force is only a swear depending on how it's used. Think of it as the equivelent of say Hell. Depends on how you use it.

 

I can't think of any specifically, but I don't see why they'd be needed in the first place, to be honest. Firstly because SW is a seperate place than here, it wouldn't fit to see Jacen start yelling "***K YOU VONG!". Secondly, the SW movie series was originally written for kids, and as amusing as it may be, it's still kinda sad to hear a 6-year-old call someone a *******.

Swearing's overrated in rl anyways.

I think damn, hell, and piss(ed) have been used, as well as bastard. I may be mistaken about piss(ed).

I dont see a problem with ***t or b!tch. With the exception of the Big F, I use them all in my fanfics.

Poodoo doesnt sound right coming out of a soldier's mouth in the middle of battle. Call me crazy, but...

 

Someone says pissed in one of the PT era AU stuff, i think its either a comic or the DM novel.

Also Han calls the Yevethan leader a bastard in the Black Fleet Crisis

 

Lorn Pavan says it in Shadow Hunter.

 

Jaina says Hutt Breath! in SbS - so I guess that can be taken as an expletive

my all time fav is "Kriff". i use it so much my parents tell me not to use the 'K'-word! it's funny.

 

i dont think they should overload it, but man if i was them, i'd be yelling all the words i knew. maybe they should make up words that sound harsher. usually when someone is in a tight situation, they cuss. it just emphasises the point. i dont think sithspit or emperor's black bones really emphasizes it enough. that's just me...

I hate this one. It's a sentence, for heaven's sake. One worders are what they need. I don't like ours either, they're too dirty. Something besides another specific person "Sith", or whoever, would be better.

It depends. The Solo kids were very high-born, and swearing is mostly a (bad) habit. If you don't use it, you don't.

 

I remember Corran and others using "frinking" instead of "****ing" in Side Trip (Tales of the NR). (OK, it may be in Tales of the Rebellion, Im not 100% sure.)
For my taste, most of the language in SW is very artificial and too cultured to be realistic, but so what, this _is_ SW after all.

 

The TPM novelization will probably have Jar Jar saying "stinkowiff" in it...

 

The words "Mara Jade" are obscenities of the highest order.
