    i'm currently scripting a spoof/parody film.
i was wondering what the opinion of swearing in fan films was.the only film i can remember seeing with swearing in was the excellent TROOPER CLERKS(the animated one).
it would fit in with story.

You can swear all you want, unless you want us to host it.

thats what i thought you guys might say ,oh well looks like a bit of creative editing to the script.
might even do one script with and one without.

but swearing one is much funnier. haha

yeah maybe i could do two versions.

it'll work without the swearing but i do want to do it with the swearing as well.
by the way in my film the emperor is married
to princess leia(though was thinking of making it shimi skywalker)what sort of reaction do you think that would get?

What is considered swearing to tfn?

Is it okay to say b*st*rd, d*mn or *ss?

You could bleep out the words... but that would take a little of the realism out. But if it is a comedy or spoof, I think bleeps would be funny.

one of my mates suggested bleeping out or very blatant voice over.
that would save filming most scenes twice.
would that be acceptable to the masses??

Personally I think some is ok, the fan film script I wrote a while back contained some swearing, but you know I didn't go nuts with the Jedi running around "Yo ***k you Darth!". It was all rather tasteful in the example of someone calling the villain a bastard....but you know don't go nuts. In light of the matter, had I ever submited that here, would it have been rejected because of the mild profanities?

Personally I think swearing is stooping to the lost common denominator, and show's a lack of inteligence ( no offense to any one. I'm just a firm believer in articulating your self well enough not to have to fall back on childish words. Again no offense it's just a personal opinion.) You can also take queue's from the real SW movies. there is no swearing in them.

looks like the swearing has to go then.
    thanks guys.
i wasn't just going to put it in for the
sake of it.if you read what i've done so far
you'd see where i'm coming from.
still they left the swearing out of TROOPER CLERKS(live action version)and it didn't lessen the effect of feeling like CLERKS.

As far as Clerks and other Kevin Smith movies go. They're a riot. a LOT of swearing in them which I'm not keen on but some of the swear combo's are hysterical. Still though it wouldn't be a Kevin Smith movie with out them. He's an Idiot Savant ( Dumb Genius for those not familiar with the term ;-P ) You may want to put a spin on swearing by making up words that sound like they should be swears, or you could to like Kevin Smith did in the trailer for Jay and Silent Bob strik back and have the actors bleep themselves. Ie. jay: Drink bweep! Smoking Bweep! Doin' Bweep!. Just a thought it could be funny and become a running gag ( and comedy torture). Hope it helps!

It depends on what type of fan film it is. I remember seeing American Jedi and there was swearing in that, but it was hilarious. So it all depends.

If it's not a comedy, I'd say try not to though. Use words that are more imaginative and funny than cuss words.

Dip the sound rather than bleep it, it seems to work for rap videos.

bleep them. That's what we did in the TESBY Mockumentary and TFN accepted it. I think it's funnier too
